  1. Tesla Received Approval to Install Short-Range Interactive Motion-Sensing Radar in Its Vehicles

If it can see through soft materials such as a blanket, it can also see through clothes. Think about that for a minute.
  2. Toyota Developing Hydrogen Internal Combustion Engine

The way I see it, the hydrogen burning based engines have all the same issues as the ICE engine and possibly more so. Way way to many mechanical parts that need constant maintenance and are ultimately expensive to dig into the engine to service. When there are hundreds of $20 buried parts that...
  3. Cybertruck Production Earlier Than Expected? Pilot line being built @ Fremont

I would think they have had a good 6 months of the prototype line building the 4680's that they would have a fairly decent stash built up by now to support how ever many they would need for the CT for testing already available.
  4. ""White House considers vehicle mileage tax to fund infrastructure, Buttigieg says"

Perhaps a scaling millage tax of some sort? Where EV vehicle value is a factor. While not perfect, this defers some of the tax to those that have the ability to afford and drive a 100k Model S and a lower rate for those that drive a $25k Model 2 for example. Several states already have...
  5. ""White House considers vehicle mileage tax to fund infrastructure, Buttigieg says"

For reference, I am a no emissions inspections county so I am no expert there. Perhaps you provided a good clue though. Maybe EV's should retain inspections just as ICE vehicles do though the same process in place. This keeps the current folks employed during the transition to EV without...
  6. ""White House considers vehicle mileage tax to fund infrastructure, Buttigieg says"

Sounds good *but* that would most certainly require every DMV/currency exchange to hire an additional person. That cost would obviously be passed on to the people.
  7. ""White House considers vehicle mileage tax to fund infrastructure, Buttigieg says"

Odometers are cheated and often even though its breaking a law. I myself work from home late shift. I put very few miles on my vehicles, I would be under constant audit. In fact, I have to keep sending pictures of my odometer already to my insurance company because they don't believe me when...
  8. ""White House considers vehicle mileage tax to fund infrastructure, Buttigieg says"

IMO: Miles driven is going to just create many new issues of monitoring and bypassing monitoring. That would mean more taxes (gov administrative jobs) on top of it to manage the intake of a new miles tax. More laws, more laws broken, busier courts and judges, etc. In Illinois, we need 2x the...
  9. ""White House considers vehicle mileage tax to fund infrastructure, Buttigieg says"

I am unsure about other states but Illinois charges 2x the cost to renew license plates for an EV vs ICE. That's the equivalent of roughly 200 gallons of gas tax when you combine federal and state gas taxes.
  10. Elon: Cybertruck will not have door handles!

Very carefully used to gingerly warm up the door frame, no need to worry about the non existent paint. LOL
  11. ICE proposed EOL 2035

Exactly. Sort of like Cable/Satellite TV subscriptions. The younger generation of adults have no interest in live television programming. Day old, month old streaming services are they way it works for them. My last teen at home has no clue how to even work the cable TV box or find anything...
  12. ICE proposed EOL 2035

Oh no, I like you will fight tooth and nail to keep my own Cybertruck but the transaction will still occur as new drivers (16 year olds) start driving everyday and the older folk that need transportation (safely). Soon to follow will be people that are in need of a replacement and see the cost...
  13. ICE proposed EOL 2035

I have been unsuccessfully preaching the same ideas to my ICE gearhead buddies. The *BIG* impact aside from how we individually do transportation, will be to the manufactures of vehicles. When 90% of the vehicles currently sit idle (FYI: I made that number up) and a service can replace the...
  14. ICE proposed EOL 2035

Perhaps I should have prefaced that with "IMO:" in which case it is true. =)
  15. ICE proposed EOL 2035

The reality is, once the upfront cost of EV's are on point or lower than the ICE alternative and the cost of ownership and operating is lower, ICE based vehicles are simply going to fade away. No reasonable person is going to spend more money on something that is inferior in multiple ways and...
  16. GM to go all EV by 2035

Quicksilver is on my wavelength on so many things they wrote and I am not saying I am like him/her or he/she is like me. I agree a lot of political games and agendas are in play. If we humans are the largest problem and contributor to climate issues, its because we are simply to populous...
  17. Robo Taxi Thoughts?

My concern would be: How does one make sure the robotaxi is "clean" between the rides if there is no driver? I can imagine you could get some pretty bad reviews if your filthy puked/pissed in or whatever keeps servicing customers. Yes it could stop servicing riders based on a complaint but...
  18. What software would you want on the cybertruck?

How about the front facing cameras be aware of a Drag Tree and be able to auto launch on green for that near perfect reaction time. =)
  19. No FSD license transfer from current owners :-(

I don't understand how a subscription can work but a license for FSD cannot transfer... You simply tie the VIN (or whatever authenticates the vehicle) to a user or owner name. They login in one time via the Tesla screen to validate their credentials and pair the two together. When the owner...
  20. What is the likelihood that the first CT deliveries will be the Tri-CT with FSD option enabled?

Assuming the CT production constraint is *specifically* tied to battery production as some have suggested: I would believe the most profitable CT to release would then be the Dual CT w/FSD. With requiring ~1/2 the batteries as the Tri Motor, Tesla could pump out nearly 2x as many Dual vs Tri...
