New study expects at least 215,000 jobs to be wiped out in the German auto industry by 2030

I don't think anyone is suggesting "OH NOES, WE MUST STOP TEH EVEES" to save jobs. I laud this idea of anticipating the downturn instead of getting to 2030 and going "oh hi, where'd all these jobless people come from"

New study expects at least 215,000 jobs to be wiped out in the German auto industry by 2030

Umm, I don't think it works that way? No one "installs a transistor" lol I get your point, that the jobs will just shift from the old industry to the new. But EVs require vastly fewer parts and are virtually maintenance-free. Workers will still be needed obviously, but far fewer.

Will the truck come with a full size spare?

In my first hours of DeLorean ownership, I got a flat. It was great fun finding the "doughnut" spare (under the frunk floor) and jack (hidden frunk compartment) on the side of the road in the dark. Turned out the full-size wheel/tire would not fit in the frunk, even with the spare removed. It...

Does the Delivery Situation in Texas Affect Country-wide Delivery?

They should import the VIN plate from California, and refer to the rest of the sale as "accessories"

Death. Being dead would prevent my purchase.

Deleted my FSD option last night

I'm on the fence with FSD, and may opt to go with the monthly fee (as-yet undisclosed). While a FSD purchase will convey with the car in a 3rd-party sale, most resellers value the FSD very low, if at all, so it appears to add little resale value. And in direct trade-ins to Tesla, it's exactly...

Does the Delivery Situation in Texas Affect Country-wide Delivery?

Elon should convince Mexico to open an "Embassy" at the factory site, so they could drive the CT to "foreign soil" and back. For a modest import/export fee, of course

Factory pick-up in lieu of delivery

Now that the Texas legislature has dropped the ball on the automotive direct-sales bill, maybe we can convince Elon to let us pick up our CT at the factory so we can drive it to Louisiana and back for him "as a subcontractor" Google Maps: Gigafactory to Louisiana

Tonneau with a side of wings?

I'm thinking that efficiency could be improved with a simple reflector, like the ones used in photography: These are light and collapsible, and could be deployed easily to maximize light onto the existing panels. But maybe not round lol

    FSD scenario question, curious

Apple's iPhone intorduction was mocked by the cellphone industry, since they had no experience in that market. But what the traditional manufacturers didn't understand was that phones were destined to become portable computers with a phone function, and not a portable phone with mobile Java...

Who is eating crow? Final predictions.

Since Tesla is resource-constrained, and the Single-Motor trim is only about 7% of reservations, I expect them to delay production into 2024 and beyond until interest has waned. I bet it never even ships.
