    CT Aero-perfect insert camper

I like doing things in often remote places. There are frequently no hotels. I don’t want to sleep in my truck. I want to ride a trail on the far side of Oregon or Washington. Sleeping in my truck is what I do in order to enjoy that. Right up therewith being strong enough to climb hills on my...

I'll just stay out of Death Valley and drive a little further. There are still a few green places left I'd like to visit.

The press is to make the front and rear assemblies. The bottom of the truck in front and aft of the battery.

So many unanswered questions I need answers for before I figure this puzzle out. Solar is definitely a thing for me, just a little worried about cost and delays. I was just looking at some efficient trailers, but man they get pricey quick.

Wondering if it does hail maybe I can raise the suspension enough my Ford owning neighbor can park under for shelter.

I know this is an old thread... I knew it was thick, but seeing it visualized is a little mind boggling. This is going to be a beast. Off-roading and you bump into a boulder and dent the boulder instead of the truck. Definitely not going to be pussyfooting through the brush worried about...

Ford patents mobile charging solution for EVs like the Mach-E — by towing them

There are some trailer makers who are adding regenerative braking. I thought Airstream was one. Yeah, the more I think about trailers, the more I feel they need to pull their own weight a bit. They wouldn't need to be full on independent EVs, but a 10-30 kWh battery for pushing on hills and...

Ford patents mobile charging solution for EVs like the Mach-E — by towing them

Here is a thought. The charging system in the towed vehicle only engages when the lead vehicle is braking or going downhill. Then you are leveraging the "drag brake" effect to your benefit instead of it working against you. This is what they are talking about doing with some trailers.

What would you pay for the cyberquad?

I'd be happy to be proven wrong on this, but I doubt Tesla is doing any engineering on this quad. It's outside their mission and little more than a distraction/ sideshow. Much like the flame thrower and the Tequilla, they are going to outsource the whole project. So any expectation that this...

Well it is called "Regenerative BRAKING" after all.

I was thinking something along these lines would be ideal for the vault. Could probably DIY a lot of it myself with some 1/4" plywood. Might even be easier than fabric sides.

This is not possible in any of the existing prototypes. Someone suggested it to Musk and he said it was a good idea but it kind of seems unlikely. We're just being optimistic. Likely setting ourselves up for disappointment.

Ford patents mobile charging solution for EVs like the Mach-E — by towing them

Charging the batteries with your regen is like having a drag brake on the whole time you are driving down the highway. Why are you even bothering with an EV if you are going to burn twice as much gas driving down the highway in your RV to move around when you get there? If you're going to tow...

Unfortunately, these guys have it pretty well tuned. They ask for just enough money that it's not worth hiring a lawyer to fight.

This is why patent trolls are toxic they Don’t actually do anything so they don’t violate any patents I wonder if I can patent patent trolling then sue the troll who trolls me for trolling.

    Tax Credit on trade-in

Without seeing the bill it's hard to say. Last credit I believe was cut off at the dealership. My Oregon credit has some stipulations about keeping the car registered "in state" for 2 years. Its not entirely clear if it means I need to keep it for that entire time or not. Either way, be...
