Vault and roll up cover in cold climates

The problem for those of us living in the winter wonderland is that also the tailgate freezes (to the tonneau cover) also.

Update: Cybertruck Will Keep Concept's Size, But Separate Smaller Cybertruck Likely!

I like the decision to keep it to the original. But then again, I love large vehicles. Given the high demand, two different size choice won't be a bad choice for Tesla.

Engineering Explained: F-150 better than Cybertruck for towing duty (over distance)

The improvement of the range in ICE trucks were achieved over many decades. I have 2010 Tundra with 26.4 gallon gas tank. I get 200-300 miles per tank. During winter, it drops to less than 100 (sometimes a lot less). A larger tank (which wasn't an available oem option when I purchased the...

Cybertruck Gigafactory Location Will Be More Than Halfway to East Coast

Are we talking about geographical center or population center? I would think population center is much closer to the east coast. (See the population 3-d map below) Pittsburgh is a good option. Pitt and Carnegie Mellon Universities are good to have in your backyard.

Engineering Explained: F-150 better than Cybertruck for towing duty (over distance)

The absolute amount of energy contained in gasoline seems irrelevant if the gas engine cannot use it.. Consider the following scenario. John makes twice as much money as Sam, but Sam is twice as frugal as John so that the amount of time they 'last' is exactly the same. Now, if they have a...

    Sliding Doors on Cybertruck

We've had a number of minivans and currently have Nissan NVP 3500 van (all with sliding doors). I hate these doors. They almost always seem to have mechanical problems and they freeze during winter. It's pain, especially during winter mornings when children need to be dropped off at schools.

Cybertruck Gigafactory Location Will Be More Than Halfway to East Coast

I actually hope that it's one of the northern states. Perhaps then they could develop it to better perform in cold weather (e.g., battery, door handle)

    Oversized parking in the city?

By the way, CT's height is smaller than most full size pickup truck. I currently drive a Tundra and wife drives Nissan NVP. Mine is about the size of CT but taller and wife's van is larger and much taller. Like everything else, you get used to the size. When parking in a parking lot, you...

Trying to get ahead of delivery -- home charger questions

I thought about installing a home charger. But there are too many unknowns and 2 years (or shorter if lucky) is a long time for nothing to happen.

    Heated exoskeleton?

I live in the northwestern PA with my truck is always parked outside and this thought has never crossed my mind. What function would that serve? Just curious. (Now I see some benefit for a heater for the door (and/or handle), but the whole body?)

Tesla Cybertruck Render Imagines Changes Required To Reach Production

I like CT in its unique look. The rendering seems like an attempt to make it look somewhat similar to everyone else's truck, to take the edge off the look.

Do you think battery mileage will increase?

I appreciate this analysis. I am not expecting miracle. But at this point, we lack the detail to do precise calculation. But it seems to me his numbers are believable. (unlike some incredible claims by (future?) makers of Atilis truck) The truck's bed length is about 2 m and width also about 2...

How many are getting the solar option

I am definitely getting this option. I live in PA, so I don't expect 15 extra miles, but even 5-10 would be nice.

Do you think battery mileage will increase?

It looks like CT is roughly about 2 m wide and the bed is about 2 m long. Assuming that the solar panel has to be somewhat smaller than this, let's say the panel is about 3 m^2. It looks like we get about 4-4.5 kWh per m^2 per day on average. (I live in PA). That will give about 12-13.5 kWh...

Do you think battery mileage will increase?

I am hoping to go with the solar panel option.. If their claim is close to the actual, then the power from the solar panel should be sufficient for most of my use.

Will you use Cybertruck as a daily driver? What are you trading in?

This will be my DD. I am currently driving a Toyota Tundra.

    Are you new to Tesla?

First EV. I probably would've gone with EV sometime in the future, but Cybertruck got me in a bit early.

"Tesla's Cybertruck Tug-of-War Stunt Was Pointless"

One more point, I am glad that Tesla did show this video from marketing point of view. Marketing is not exactly fair reporting. I am from the truck world and there is a bias in that world that considers any electric/hybrid vehicles as weak and not up to the task. If anything, this helps to...
