  1. Stock Tires, DuratracRTs and Blizzaks, oh my!

They seem fine. I was worried they'd be a worse compromise.
  2. Stock Tires, DuratracRTs and Blizzaks, oh my!

My truck is in Nevada, I bought Nokian Hakka LT3s and I regret it. They're stellar on snow and ice on the road, but I destroyed a tire and damaged a wheel on a rock as soon as I took them off road because they aren't really off road tires. I wish I had just got the Duratracs. Optimizing for 1%...
  3. Finding always-on 48v in the cabin or bed

I literally just need it to leave USB C on 100%. It is enough to run my fridge.
  4. Finding always-on 48v in the cabin or bed

The main problem I'm looking to solve is running a fridge 24/7/365. It needs to be powered always. Currently no way to do this without leaving a ton of systems on drawing 500W or more using sentry mode. Less concerned about the inefficiency of DC to AC back to DC conversion, more concerned that...
  5. Homemade mobile solar charging panels, Starlink, & other mods on my Cybertruck

Also here's your solar when you want to get serious: http://mldevices.com 38% efficiency. Price probably around $100 per watt.
  6. Homemade mobile solar charging panels, Starlink, & other mods on my Cybertruck

Has anyone tried feeding current into the 48v bus on the CT to see if the DC-DC is bidirectional? That could be a way to slowly charge the main pack, even while driving, without needing to plug into the charge connector, and without the inefficient DC-AC conversion. You'd want to get a clamp...
  7. Finding always-on 48v in the cabin or bed

Only problem is removing the whole sidewall like that is a bitch and a half. The upper sidewall is easy, but you are highly likely to break the clips, which are made of some sort of cake. I'd give it a shot without removing any sidewall at all.
  8. Finding always-on 48v in the cabin or bed

Removing the upper bed sidewall is really difficult without breaking the clips. I would attempt to remove the rooftop applique and the bed floor, and then try to fish the wire through the sail without removing any sidewall. From there I would probably try to make it come out via the tonneau...
  9. Absolute best extreme performance winter tires?

I absolutely HATE sliding on ice. I think I want to go studded... What do you guys think of Nitto Exo Grappler AWT 285/65r20? Nokian has their SUV tires available in 285/50r20 but not 285/65r20. They'll fit but they're smaller. They're also not in stock anywhere. Thoughts? Is studded going to...
  10. "No crumple zones" myth again debunked in Cybertruck crash

No no, you don't get it. Until it crumples, it doesn't have crumple zones. Once it crumples, it is "not actually tough lololololol."
  11. Water storage?

So I finally designed the parts that I've been meaning to design all along. I hated that I had to move all the shit off the gear locker to get to the hose, so I moved it all into the bed. This is 100% tent-compatible. I'll be moving everything forward so the pump lives under the tent. Although...
  12. I need a JACK

Or they have one of these Or they use it for recovery with this
  13. Water storage?

There's also like 6-7 inches of nothing underneath the gear locker?!? What's up with that? Is that where they deleted the steel frame for the trailer hitch? 🤣 I also notice that the casting has a semicircular cutout. I suspect they designed it for spare tire storage at some point. The rear...
  14. Water storage?

So, I removed the bed floor today. There's a fairly large empty area under the floor in front of the gear locker, behind the rear drive unit and above the rear sway bar. Not sure why there's so much space - maybe the Cyberbeast rear drive unit is much larger. There's also significant space in...
  15. Cybertruck makes it through mud hole that only lifted Jeep on 37's could conquer. Then tows a Tacoma out 👏

Not surprising. I drove a trail in my dual motor on stock A/T tires, in wet conditions, was told by locals that they were surprised the trail was still open because normally it gets closed after rain, and then looked it up on YouTube and saw lifted jeeps winching. Lol.
  16. Water storage?

After doing an overlanding trip with the water bag in the gear locker... It is really inconvenient to have to move stuff off the top of the locker and open it to get the hose out. Also, storing the pump on top of the water bag was a bad idea. Inevitably a little bit of water pools on top of the...
  17. VIDEO: Cybertruck attention causes pedestrian to be hit by a car!? 😱

I bet a lot of us have caused crashes. I think I've caused at least one.
