I could have sworn I responded to this thread once before to say that I had a 2012 LEAF that I was determined to hold on to till CT arrives, but I have been getting a bit impatient lately, and the LEAF hasn't been doing so well with the commute in -25C forcing me to buy electrons at probably the...
I still don't get why that means northern Canadians would want a roadster. I am saying even in southern Ontario I would have expected the trucks to be more highly anticipated. And much of Canada has harsher winters than here.
I kind of feel like while you came across as arguing we are really...
2cm might be an emergency in Vancouver (not sure why??? ) but that's still a light dusting to me in southern Ontario the "we all got to experience winter" comment I made the other day was in reference to the 55 cm we got overnight.
Everyone got to experience it yesterday. :)
Even in the GTA sports cars get insurance put on hold and go into storage till spring while the owners pick up a cheap "winter beater" to drive around during the snowy months.
Really? Canadians are waiting for the Roadster? I must be the odd man out. I can't imagine spending all that money on a sportscar that I can't even drive in the winter, but a semi-affordable electric truck sounds about perfect to me. plenty of clearance and AWD, with seating and cargo space...
You are correct. I must have failed to clear the calculator from another calculation. Not sure how that ended up at that number. I will fix the original post. It is still a lot more than most people think they are capable of on their own. everyone assumes they are buying whatever is leftover...
The claimed 30GWh/year if divided into 150kWh packs = 200,000 [edited] cars per year, and they will be building a second factory in the USA for 2023. GM's battery plans are nothing to ignore.
Not everyone got in on day one of each reservation list.
For me, I have $100 deposits in on all 3, Ford, Chevy and Tesla. I really want the Tesla, but if Ford or Chevy can get one to me faster I will take that while I wait on the CT. ...maybe opting then for a later build of CT. Looks like I am...
Update:
The bus was being driven manually, the driver/attendant is now out of the hospital but still recovering, and police are still looking for witnesses.
https://durhampost.ca/waves-autonomous-mode-was-disabled-at-time-of-crash
The investigation is still ongoing, but given the state of the bus after the crash I would guess one of 2 things probably happened.
a) the attendant had a medical event (heart attack or something) and fell on his controls sending the bus off course at full speed
or
b) the bus was rear-ended...
TBH I would be surprised to see ANY new car that doesn't have that feature. It has been a feature in cars for at least a decade now.
In my opinion, any car coming out now that doesn't have that option should be considered faulty.
Obviously this has nothing to do with Tesla and their FSD, but expect to hear about this as FSD is the first thing people think of when talk turns to autonomous vehicles...
