Same here. VIN 51XXX. Received delivery in Nov 2024. Tesla just said recall doesnāt apply to my VIN, but https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls shows recall is applicable. I asked Tesla rep to confirm whether the issue is fixed in my vehicle. Probably itās fixed as the VIN is above 50K š¤·āāļø.
At least 5 friends reached out to me today asking whether Iām a victim of this poor design! We poor Cybertruck owners are victims of so many things - first FS, then skippers, then non FS price drops, then the Politics, and Elonās hate, recalls, middle fingers, and of course butt swipes. We poor...
Exactly! I agree with everything you said above. This is the reason I sold my Hensley hitch. I donāt plan to use any WD with CT. I havenāt towed yet. Iāll be either towing 10,000 lbs dirt trailer for short distance on regular ball mount or pintle hitch, or 6000 lbs RV trailer long distance. I...
lol! How can WD magically lower overall force? Of course when someone says Tongue Weight with WD, they are referring to the vectors of force on the rear axle through the hitch point. WD helps distribute that force to front axle. Thatās the basic mechanism of WD.
If someone is mistaken, itās...
It does, depending on how you measure Tongue weight. Use this next time with any Weight Distribution hitch to see how much your Tow Vehicle Hitch is taking the tongue weight. Lowering Tongue Weight means transferring the load to front axles...
Where is that 6K number coming from? That exceeds the axle loads if you are having passengers and some cargo in the bed.
Look guys, if you drive off a cliff with 10,000 lbs trailer, of course the tongue weight will exceed 1000 lbs when the Tow Vehicle contacts the ground. We are talking about...
No I have spent months researching on these things for my previous rig. You are the one confused š. Towing and Tongue weight are separate but related once the Tow Vehicle takes the downward force of the Tongue! You and @mongo are assuming OEM Tongue Weight is static load, and thatās simply not...
I was referring to 100,000 lbs as the trailer weight. If you watch the BeardedTesla video, he pretty much says the same. Tongue weight is at the ballpark of 10% to 15% of Trailer weight, and that āincludesā dynamic load on the Hitch. In the above video, his calculation is in the ballpark of...
To add further, the OEM Tongue Weight doesnāt include Weight Distribution hitches. With a proper setup, these vehicles are incredible for short-distance towing. Hereās Andy from Can-am towing Airstream with Model 3:
If you are not convinced with Cybertruckās pulling power, hereās a video...
Hereās a great video that explains what Iām saying above way better. In that video, he mentions that 10K lbs failure point means Cybertruck is 3.5 times better than F450 Towing limit!! As I said above, 1,100 lbs Tongue Weight does account for Dynamic load of the 11,000 lbs trailer. OEMs do skip...
Ugh! Not again. The best thing we owners could do is to do word of mouth advertising to get as many CTs on road as possible. Thatās the only way to curb down the hate, vandalism, and everything in between.
Go talk to anybody who doesnāt hate Cybertruck, and win them over to get one in the...
Now we are talking about two different things - Dynamic load based on inertia versus vertical Dynamic load on the hitch that some are hypothesizing to be problem in CT. As I said above, please research on how skid plate testing is done to arrive at the Tongue weight. It *does* account for...
Tongue weight accounts for the ballpark of Dynamic load. Have you tried weighing the tongue weight of a 11,000 lbs trailer with a hitch scale? I have done that, and it can never be 6000 lbs. The skid plate testing thatās done by OEMs accounts for all these parameters to finally arrive at the...
I canāt believe people are taking this negatively. Technically what this means is CT can handle 100,000 lbs towing as Tongue weight is at the ballpark of 10% of the trailer weight. Dynamic weight can never be equal to Trailer weight, unless Trailer tilts magically by 90 degrees and all of the...
I had my front motor replaced a few weeks ago for the exact rumbling issue at low speeds (less than 10 mph). The problem is less severe but still exists. Iām just not going to push this further. The truck is so silent that these minute rumblings are amplified and audible. If it worsens in a year...
I have low rumbling sound when I accelerate from stop sign. Itās more prominent when I make a left turn. Tesla replaced front drive unit but the problem is still there. Another issue is when battery is getting preconditioned, the whining sound changes frequency/pitch at exactly 25mph...
This is definitely something Tesla will have to address. Hope this doesnāt turn into a major recall. Iām sure every Tesla hater or click-bait influencer will milk this issue to their heartās content! š¤¦āāļø
