They have sold what, 25k of these things? Might as well not exist lol. Nobody is buying these for work. They are buying it to drive to their house in Tahoe.
The head of engineering at SpaceX, who launches rockets into orbit and lands then on end to reuse them is capable of doing hard things. Who knew?
I think people mistakenly are taking him saying "it will be hard" as "we won't be able to do it". I believe this truck will be competitive with 1/2...
Agreed. It is imperative that Cybertruck is competitive with current mass-market pickup trucks. The price is dependent on the volume.
Remember them playing tug of war with an F150? Smashing the F150 door with a sledgehammer? Seems clear to me what they view as the competition for this truck...
This seems logical to me. We have had some crazy inflation in the last few years, though. Also, Tesla probably didn't foresee the delays that were caused by COVID, which means they are probably releasing this vehicle later than intended (more inflation). Regardless, I think there is no way this...
Logically, if they are planning to sell anywhere near 250-500k units annually, it can't be a super-premium truck like the Hummer. It has to be price competitive with 1/2-ton pickup trucks currently on the market.
Otherwise, it will just never hit that kind of volume. There simply aren't enough...
I was just about to say this. I would predict that they are doing the classic automaker tactic of talking about your top end specs along with your lowest end price. Everybody does this, including Tesla. Ex. "0-60 in 2.9 Seconds, 14k lbs towing, starting at $39,900". But once you look into it you...
Them calling the setup a "generator" is misleading in my opinion. Actually it's just an inverter and the power comes from idling your engine. The inverter on the non-hybrid models is like 2 or 2.4kw. I have a 3kw inverter I put in my truck DIY for $300. It's the easiest install ever. You...
23mpg and a tiny 1.5kwh battery...eek. I also thought it was funny how to claimed they totally reworked the outside and not a single body panel was reused from the last generation. If that's true, why does it look like a carbon copy of the last one lol! How many millions did they spend on...
I'm hopeful the final version will be mirrorless, or that they will be easily and legally removable. That being said, the cameras are also needed for autopilot, so they would be there regardless.
Sandy Munro has said multiple times that the Cybertruck is not a pickup truck. At first, I disagreed and wondered why he would say this, but I'm realizing he's right. It's MUCH more than a pickup truck. Think about it. You've got the following:
-Faster quarter-mile than a Dodge Hellcat, more...
I’m a big fan of their current design that sacrifices a bit of storage but gives you a 6th seat when you need it. I’m not a person that keeps a lot of junk in the center console anyway. The one on my truck is mostly empty. That being said, I also rarely have 6 people in car so I’d prefer the...
Appleton area here! I’ve got a dual motor on order and my father has a tri motor reserved as well. Can’t wait to attend meet ups! Glad other people are buying the cybertruck in the fox valley.
When this person shows the front, I’m fairly certain there are two tow hooks. It could be something else, but it sure looks like tow hooks. Also the opening in the bumper looks promising for a winch line. I think if it’s not a factory option, aftermarket companies will have a solution very quickly.
At this point what can this thing NOT do? For the average person, the only use case I see it failing at is tight city driving where a compact car is really the most practical option. But not everybody lives in a city. I have no issues parking my F250 in my area, and it’s actually larger than the...
Hey Everybody! I made a video covering the recent news with the Lincoln/Ford and Rivian partnership, as well as a specs comparison of the R1T and the Cybertruck. Also some brief coverage of Tesla's Q1 earnings call. Let me know what you think!
