  1. Anti-EV idiocy

I've long held the belief that >80% of new vehicles sold in 2030 would be EVs. That was actually my bear case. I wouldn't have been surprised if it was over 90%. However, what I've increasingly seen over the last couple of years is how politicized EVs have become. It's unfortunate because it...
  2. Cybertruck is waterproof enough to serve as a boat to cross rivers, lakes & calm seas -- confirms Musk 🚤

Good point on the tailgate seal. As soon as water starts filling that up its game over. Didn't Elon say something like the best part is no part, best process is no process? A tailgate seal doesn't fit that definition at all. I know many on this site have wet their pants over the idea of being...
  3. Cybertruck is waterproof enough to serve as a boat to cross rivers, lakes & calm seas -- confirms Musk 🚤

I seriously doubt there is a large market for "I want to drive my truck into a lake". Insurance will love that one. At the end of the day, if it can do all the things everyone here is excited about, I'm all for it. I just don't want it to come at the expense of extra cost. When I said the CT...
  4. Cybertruck is waterproof enough to serve as a boat to cross rivers, lakes & calm seas -- confirms Musk 🚤

Elon: "We've raised our prices quite a few times. They're frankly at embarrassing levels. But we've also had a lot of supply chain and production shocks and we've got crazy inflation." "I think inflation will decline towards the end of the year. I'm hopeful — and this is not a promise — but...
  5. Cybertruck is waterproof enough to serve as a boat to cross rivers, lakes & calm seas -- confirms Musk 🚤

Nope, the side of logic and knowing 99% of CT owners will not go in more than 6" deep water. If the purpose of Tesla is to reduce cost, I can't see how this will.
  6. Cybertruck is waterproof enough to serve as a boat to cross rivers, lakes & calm seas -- confirms Musk 🚤

I mean, I could easily say because YOU think it's a benefit, doesn't mean everyone else has to pay extra to make it work. And no, this isn't easy. I worked at an OEM where we sent all our vehicles down a pressurized water tunnel to check for leaks. Do you know what contributes to a simple drip...
  7. Cybertruck is waterproof enough to serve as a boat to cross rivers, lakes & calm seas -- confirms Musk 🚤

Talk about a completely unnecessary feature. I hope no engineer resources were spent making this thing float. Door seals really aren't made to keep out water when submerged.
  8. Charging While Driving?

I feel like the added range, however small, still is something. If the giant surface area of solar on the camper doesn't make sense, then it definitely doesn't make sense on the much smaller tonneau cover. (not to mention the reliability of bending solar connections every time you open the...
  9. Charging While Driving?

I was picturing adjacent to the trailer plug. Like many others have pointed out, this cable would be roughly same size of extension cord.
  10. Charging While Driving?

Yeah, I guess some people could (lucky!). I definitely could not based on where our rv is stored. Most in the city store their rv off-site.
  11. Charging While Driving?

The longest distance route I would use this feature on is 10hrs, using your lowest estimate of 2.5miles/hr X 10hrs, that's 25 miles of TOWING range, which I'd definitely take. Other benefits: 1. I don't need to have a large battery in trailer that isn't being used 95% of the year. I'll take...
  12. Charging While Driving?

How does Aptera prevent overcharging with their solar cells? Regen braking is simple enough, just use 100% brakes until enough battery is depleted.
  13. Charging While Driving?

I haven't seen this topic come up before, but very possible I've missed it. Doesn't it seem like all EV trucks are missing a big opportunity to allow a plug by the hitch for solar charging while it is being towed? Elon mentioned solar on tonneau cover w/ solar could add 30-40mile per day...
  14. Something I dream of doing in my truck...

I 100% agree! I hope there is a midgate so your bed can be climate controlled AND see through the glass. No more need for a generator for camping either. Inflatable mattress? Not a problem.
  15. Ford Gives Dealers Six Weeks To Decide If They Want To Continue Selling EVs

This is true. We did have many of the same issues as electrify America. Both are ABB chargers. Hopefully they can figure it out before government spends all their subsidies...
  16. Ford Gives Dealers Six Weeks To Decide If They Want To Continue Selling EVs

It is probably the charger plus the electric infrastructure to support the chargers. When I purchased ABB chargers for our business they were 190kw, and cost about $80k each. However the infrastructure to support the 4 chargers pushed it well over 1 million.
  17. Ford Gives Dealers Six Weeks To Decide If They Want To Continue Selling EVs

You laugh, but I worked at an assembly plant that just started making EVs and this was an actual legit issue. Upper management didn't care because ev volumes were low, so they'd send these uncharged vehicles off site where they'd die and that caused all kinds of other issues. So yes, this is a...
  18. Flipping Cybertruck

I am looking forward to getting the CT, but everything has a price. I saw some hummers selling over $250k. I'm not saying CT would be able to be flipped for that much, but if there is a reasonable markup, I would consider selling. If someone impatient enough is willing to reward me enough for...
  19. Video: Tesla Cybertruck can reach 50% margin

Bingo! Finally someone gets it. And demand will still be there 100%. The cheapest Lightning w/ extended range is over $80k. Same pricing as rivian, and gm. And we can forget about the hummer too. Tesla will have no problem selling these trucks at ~$75k all day. Look at how much current gas...
