Tesla patents new windshield glass capable of novel bends, shapes and curves using Cybertruck as example

Is this old news? To lazy to do some digging but I swear I have seen this patent in the past....

Franz Interview - Talks About Cybertruck Design, Petersen Exhibit, and Production Model Hints!

Education is great but real world experience is another (better imo) form of education.

New Cybertruck Body Shell photos taken INSIDE Giga Texas! 🤳

I think the point is, you only do this crating for low volume prototype stages that are likely made off site and have a high value as a prototype. Ecsar does show "skids" as one of the products they sell. Its possible they were simply contracted to skid and ship some prototype bodies...

Tester Cybertruck Prototype Spotted on a Tow Truck!

Agreed- where are the drone flyovers? The community is failing 🙃

Musk: "Cybertruck pricing and specs will be different, but it will be a damn fine product."

The market sets the price. The cost of production sets the margins.

Elon Says Final Cybertruck Design is Now Locked! Updated Production Timeline = Mid-2023

Agree the Shanghai ramp was very fast, but COVID shutdowns have very much slowed down Texas and Berlin some. As for the only new process... I would count all of these and new processes that will take time to scale and perfect at volume: 4680 batteries armored glass 4 wheel steering possible...

Elon Says Final Cybertruck Design is Now Locked! Updated Production Timeline = Mid-2023

My hunch is that Elon doesn't really care that much about the competition. I think he drove the CT prototype some and thought the turning radius was terrible and they should fix that. I still remember some shot of it driving in New York City and it pulling on to the road from a parking lot...

Elon Says Final Cybertruck Design is Now Locked! Updated Production Timeline = Mid-2023

Agreed- they are reading between the lines on that, as he did not exactly say that. My own reading between the lines was, they didn't have chips or batteries anyway, so they kept iterating the design. Through that process they got carried away with features (thus his past comments about...

Elon Says Final Cybertruck Design is Now Locked! Updated Production Timeline = Mid-2023

Frist timeline stated that I think they have chance at hitting. I wonder when we get to know the design details????

Roll up vault cover- concerns that Rivian's already failed?

Ya that cover does not look like its meant to be stood on. I assume the CT is still going to be rigid enough to stand on like in the Jay Leno interview.

Roll up vault cover- concerns that Rivian's already failed?

Though I doubt they will do this, I agree that a single piece could be a more robust approach. That presents some other challenges and would probably have more impact to range (aero) when open, but maybe not significantly?

Roll up vault cover- concerns that Rivian's already failed?

There have been plenty of threads on about how the vault cover should/could work and what the risks are. Tesla obviously has the potential to make a robust design but to me this confirms that it is a very difficult problem to solve. It is a sample size of one to be sure, but worth noting...

New Member, advice please, Model Y or wait?

Hopefully I will have some rural experience in month of two! My road this spring (which is why I am keeping my old Subaru until I better understand how a heavy EV with only 6.5" of ground clearance does in these situations):

New Member, advice please, Model Y or wait?

Question- What is your experience with EV's and the Model Y? I would recommend you test drive at minimum and rent one for a better experience. I twice rented a MY LR while traveling and fell in love with experience of driving it. I had already had a CT on order but wasn't sure I would go...

Cybertruck pic - in lowest air suspension mode & windows down

Interesting nugget- thanks for sharing. If Tesla would decide to do some sort of buffing/polishing process would that create a similar look on each panel? Obviously buffing would be more process steps but that would still seem simple compared to painting.

    4680 Progress

I agree and disagree a tiny bit. There is no evidence that they are making anything but 4680 structural pack in Texas currently. On the other hand, their quarterly earning report did mentioned they are ABLE to produce 2170 MY's in Texas. I am assuming this is still a contingency plan if 4680...
