I’ve used a generator on mine before. Get a surge protector like you would use on an RV just to be safe. It won’t let power through at all if it’s reversed or not a good flow.
The new update is a big help. When you plug your trailer in and then select your saved trailer profile it adjust the power consumption based on past drives with that trailer.

The trip from Richmond, TX to Huntsville State Park was 96 miles. I left with 100% and arrived with 45%. It used 63 KWH. I was averaging about 65MPH.
Truck felt great. Didn’t notice the trailer was back there except a few dips on the freeway.
