    Cybertruck Tire Options?

People will complain about everything, heck they have started making special EV tires because EV's are so much quieter that road noise became noticeable. My wife likes the skinny pedal in her Coyote powered F-150, and will do a 4wd drift on curvy dirt roads so we expect to go through tires.

Confirmed Cybertruck specs: 5% smaller, 6x4 bed size, 5 seats, frunk, no pass through & more... (info from Tesla employee at Investor Day)

I don't get why so many people are saying that the bed isn't going to be useful. The bed on my Nissan is 4 ft wide above the wheel wells and I have hauled and still haul all kinds of stuff. 8 sheets of drywall or ply wood, lumber, firewood, dump runs, concrete, scrap etc. There is hardly a...

If memory serves it was stated in the reveal back in 2019. A 4' bed, likely 4' 1" can still handle a 4x8 sheet of plywood or drywall, and on the floor the bed is 6.5' (or maybe 6' we will find out eventually)

Assuming that the 4' bed width is correct for a second. then add 15" to each side for tire and wheel well clearance so 48+30= 78". The thing is vehicles over 80" wide changes the classification and DOT requirements so dropping it to below 80" makes sense. Looking at the front seat, the center...

Looks like the tailgate ramp may be gone too. Due to the shape of the front of the bed I would guess it is more effectively a 5.5 ft bed. I don't mind loosing the front center seat, it would have been nice but isn't necessary for me. 5% smaller that is useful for me.

Will Cybertruck drivers be prone to road rage?

I had noticed the tendency to drive more aggressively in my dads F-350 when I was a teenager. It made me feel powerful and invulnerable. And yes I was carrying a bit of anger already and still do but I have learned over the past 20 or so years to keep it in check enough that friends have...

Why Do Teslas Keep Smashing Emergency Vehicles? (Warning: Graphic images in article)

The lights on top of the cab are still lit, and in one of the other pictures a side light on the front half is still lit.

Where other than the far front and far rear? Every thing else I see looks like reflections.

How will you customize / modify your Cybertruck?

I have joked about a couple of things, like a yellow-orange wrap and call it the cheese wedge. Or P-51 mustang livery. But will probably go with a US flag on the tailgate and Veterans tags to keep down the coal rolling incidents.

Why Do Teslas Keep Smashing Emergency Vehicles? (Warning: Graphic images in article)

Its pretty common here to use a large heavy vehicle to protect all of the squishy people working the accident from someone not paying attention. Its also why at least in one city in my state they have a special truck that has crash mitigation built onto the back of it. Taking a look at the...

Why Do Teslas Keep Smashing Emergency Vehicles? (Warning: Graphic images in article)

180 people died in crashes with emergency vehicles in 2020. There are approximately 6500 crashes involving ambulances each year. Tesla has had 14 total crashes with emergency vehicles. I remember years ago before Tesla was a thing discussing several fatal accidents involving stopped police...

Rivian's plan for Rock Crawling is a low-range crawler gearbox. Is it something Cybertruck S.B. looking at?

At first I thought these were portal axles, but apparently I was wrong. These are bolt on high/low range gearboxes. In theory they will improve their capabilities off-road. Similar devices for ICE vehicles run for $1500-2500 for one. This will require 4...

Rivian's plan for Rock Crawling is a low-range crawler gearbox. Is it something Cybertruck S.B. looking at?

It would be hard to say for certain but gearing gives a significant amount of low speed control. Can that be duplicated in software by remapping the throttle response? Probably, time will tell. The example Crissa posted has a combination of a very flexible suspension and insane gearing as...

Rivian's plan for Rock Crawling is a low-range crawler gearbox. Is it something Cybertruck S.B. looking at?

Pretty sure I have seen it before... oh yeah its on the original on many military vehicles. look up portal axles. There are several aftermarket kits available as well.

    NY Times CT article

Not in my case, no paint means no scratches. My wife and I drive the back roads and forest roads. We have a couple of large dogs. Every truck and car we have owned had scratches and dents. And the typical Elon timline errors, the time it took to build the factory etc. And experts like...
