I'm too tight to pay $600 for the windshield, but if I wasn't, it's worth every cent in terms of the pain-in-the-ass factor of tinting the giant screen, it's not an easy job.
I bought this set (excellent quality). If the mirrors haven't been removed before, expect the bolts to be extremely tight. You might need some leverage, which is why I got the sockets, but obviously there's a lot of glass in the general area, so just be careful.
Edit: totally read this as the...
Who wants to develop a 'rate every service center' app?
In fairness, I've had great experiences over the years, in the early days (2013/MS) the tiny Dallas SC was amazing, had house visits from the service manager (Jack) long before the ranger service was a thing, but as an experience it's by...
Added this to my SC visit in a couple of weeks. Recent history with the Fort Worth SC suggests they'll just ignore it or claim it's not a required fix, so we'll see....
To (re) confirm, yes, they replace both sail trims and the tailgate. I know this, because (a) I'd wrapped mine in Armor, and (b), they did a really shitty job, it's now loose and rattly, so be sure to check yours afterwards, as I apparently waited longer than 48hrs, so now they won't fix it...
@AverageJoe yeah, correct. When I was shopping around for quotes, they'd all come back higher after the detailed check. No accident or ticket history at all, but a windshield replacement 'counts' as a claim when assessing premium. When I asked for more details, they said they checked the CLUE...
Was it clean? That's my other gripe with them, the loaners I have been 'lucky' enough to get have been filthy, inside and out. So easy to check them over before loaning back out. Last one, a MY, had a tire warning, no washer fluid, trash in the footwell and door packet, and a really funky smell.
It varies by SC, but yes, it seems to be getting worse. Fort Worth SC has been just awful lately, they f'd up the sail recall, so now they're just not attached at the top at all, but they're refusing to cover their work, it's 'owner pay' at $680 (they can f right off, obviously). Truck goes in...
V3 is not coming anytime soon; there's been almost a dozen iterations to improve on V2, but so far none have really hit the mark. I agree it's a Marmite product (that'll only resonate with Brits, not sure what the US equivalent would be, pickles in burgers, maybe??!) but it's love it or hate it...
What every else says about worrying less about the vandalism. There was a moment in time when it was more of a concern, but life, and the news cycle, moves fast these days. Just this week I've had 3 people chat with me about the truck, and (a) I don't put a lot of miles on it, and (b) I for sure...
This can't be the reason, many of the LV accessories are still running on 12V (16V, to be more accurate). The 'bones' of the system is 48V, but a lot of the smaller components are still 16V.
I hate MyQ as well, the app is awful (it's OK in the cars), and maybe 2/10 times the door fails to close...
Some of us have been around for years, and some newer vendors just drop-ship everything from China. Almost certainly cheaper, but slow shipping, weird service and difficult returns. When comparing the price, it's sometimes worth considering the bigger picture. Everyone mentioned in this thread...
