My main reason isn't on here, so i'm a tesla fan boy i guess.. The other two were towing and camping. But the primary reason, i think its going to make me a shitton of money :)
I donno, 1000 horse power could WORK a lot of miracles! see what i did there? eh? eh?
But seriously, it might reduce the load capacity, but it would make the tow capacity go up. The battery is probably the biggest most ridged structural member, so a bigger one would just mean a stronger frame...
pretty sure that's the first im hearing of it, but i think what Rthardison is saying is that Tesla will prioritize large orders first.
As far as i know, that is baseless speculation. But not much else here, at this time.. I dont think that will be the case, over 2 million reservation holders...
Close: i dont think a tri motor standard makes sense, 350 miles would be the standard. IF the only range being offered is 350 that is what i think will happen. But that doesn't make any sence to me, why would Tesla offer 1 pack size and two variants? Not a lot of variation there, if you ask me...
I already regret my insults, and i already admitted being wrong on the MS/MSP pack size. But i dont think that makes me any less right: MS pack is over-kill and software limited. But i dont think with the cell restraint the CTs base battery would be overkill..
And i dont even understand why we...
Sorry, i think you are the one that's not following. I am aware that " that the CT 'performance' referenced by musk *is* the tri motor variant being released on Nov. 30 "
What i am saying is the performance model is not the plaid model.
There is a literal Zoo of different Model Ses. Different years, battery sizes, different numbers of motors.. It will be no different with the CT. One year we might have a standard dual motor variant and a performance tri. Another we might have A plaid quad, a "long range" tri, and a "standard"...
I hope all 125,000 of them have the same system and purpose, then!
Ive only built two solar projects in my life, And they both had vastly different purouse. One powered an RC drone, the other a house. Needless to say both used vastly different battery systems..
But if you are designing a system...
The batteries are definitely the restraint, but i think that is a good problem to have. I dont think they are going to go out of their way making a smaller pack, just to produce more CTs. Call me crazy again, but i do not think that Tesla is that short sighted.. The CT is a radical new product...
Yes, but the performance model isn't plaid or quad.. its just the "performance" tri variant, thats all... We've namely seen the performance variant, confirming there are two trims on release. I remember arguing that there would only be one trim, the dual motor on release..
Looks like i was...
Little kid waving "byeeee" to the crowd brings me joy :) Hope that kid keeps his ego in check when he grows up, lol. That'll be a challenge, that i almost do not envy.
The motors are not the only difference though. Although the Plaid has less range, it has a 15% bigger battery (100kw vs 85kw). It also has ceramic breaks now, and a few other bells and whistles. Not to mention it is the quickest production car in the world.. Worth +20k to me.
Tri motor truck is...
Yet. I guess the CT did beat the 1500REV to market, but they are still advertising a 500 mile range, this year...
"350 miles with the standard 168 kilowatt-hour battery pack or a manufacturer’s estimate targeting an Unsurpassed-in-Class up to 500 miles total driving range( Disclosure1) with the...
Saying that the extra capacity is already built into the dual motor, is not completely dumb.. If there was a long and a short range version of the dual motor, that might even make sense: Use the overcapacity of the Dual LR variant for performance.
But im pretty sure there will be ONE dual...
Sorry for the edgy response :p But i felt it. I wanted to set expectations, but i acknowledge that the time to make expectations has passed. The release specs were just that, Elon's expectations. And every time John from cleaner watt or someone on this thread tried to "not get their hopes up" ...
