ya, pretty cool. I can't wait to get the samples. Since spacex is blowing up so many proto types, I hope it has brought down the price of scrap SS sheets. Hoping to buy some 12x12 inch squares. Put a thermometer under them and test with the different coatings.

It also did not have silver but I will google these because will be...
To answer your first question: "Why would you want to do something like this?"
Right now it is 111 degree F outside here at my ranch. It can get up to 129 degrees F during the summer. I can understand how someone who lives in a town where everyone lives under a waterfall might ask "Why would...
Thank you for reply:) I don't think you can expect Elon to install everything you might want off the line. With a little research I think building a cool SS hood mount to install the antenna would not be hard. It would be worth the money to me just to give it a try. Living in the desert, I...
Using gold to reflect ir has turned into an interesting rabbit hole.
Gold with a thickness of 4nm can be translucent with a green ting. Used on astronauts helmets.
I already forgot the process used to put the gold on film. Think it is spattering.
Hopefully, with continued research a gold...
Ehninger1212 and I came up with the idea of wrapping the body in gold aeronautical film to reflect the heat in desert climates. If anyone knows of a supplier of gold aeronautical film would love to get my hands on some to experiment.
Seems like we now have two topics in the same thread.
1. Wrapping the CT in Gold aeronautical film.
2. Coating to reduce the heat through glass windows.
Guess I will take the Gold aeronautical film to the "Cybertruck Wrap ideas? Thread.
And continue to discuss what to do about reducing...
I wonder if their claims that is blocks heat is true. It probably does block the UV so your DNA is not affected. But the infrared my not be reflected and you are getting solar cooked...

Since gold is the best reflector of infrared. Think I could change from polished SS to gold film coating. Wife is asian and loves gold. Maybe she will lighten up on me about the 76g purchase.
Needed to back to physics.. I seem to be going in the wrong direction at first. Our skin needs UV protection for the glass but the heat comes from long wave infrared. Found several additives that absorb UV but none that ?absorb? or reflect infrared yet.
You are so right. Where I live 9 out of 10 trucks are white. But if I could have a polished SS body with a clear ceramic coating that cut down 80% of the heat, I think that would be awesome!
My first is getting burns on my hands or arms from brushing against the body. Second is optimal use of energy. I would rather use it to charge the batteries than cooling down the truck. At my age my skin is very thin.
I met Elon back when he was getting his first divorce. His money was tied up in the divorce preceedings and he was sleeping in his pickup. I am quite sure that pickups have a very special place in his heart and he is motivated to make the CT the best it can be.
This is a great thread. First time I heard about ceramic coatings. Do You think you could apply it to the body? I live in the desert where we only have about 2-4 months below 100 degrees F. I am really concerned about the SS body heating up.
Living in the desert. Metal in the sun gets hot. Really Hot! Someone suggested that the polished surface would reflect the heat. But where I live you can leave a crome tool in the sun for a few minutes and it is too hot to pick up. The Taunnu cover that came with my pickup was black and I...
