Like Aircraft Exoskeleton and Monocoque or semi monocoque construction still has supporting structure the load is being carried by the skin and after forming (bending or stamping) the rigidity of a 3mm Stainless Steel skin will be significant.
I do not think the production model will be a mix of panel thickness. It is not reasonable. The structural, load bearing skin will be a significant part of the overall integrity of the vehicle. Having a rigid and stable outer skin and a support structure under that will be how all of this is...
What I saw on the Prototype leads me to believe that not all the panels were 3mm. The doors were but other joints were exposes and seemed much thinner. I have worked with 3mm SS many times and once bent even 1/4 hard is pretty tough, so I bet the final skins will be much more resilient.
It all depends on how the ramp progresses. Seems like Berlin has been ahead of shcedule. The Model Y is a good indication, but the CT seems like it could be much faster to full production. The bottle neck, last I heard was the 4680cells. But that seems to be improving as well. I would expect 1-2...
Considering this option as well. I would have sell the Y when getting the CT. I have an ICE Truck that I use infrequently due to MPG and the option of a Mini Copper for most of my current driving. I like the idea of the Aptera but I can't get my partner to agree to it . The CT is all mine and...
