Yeah those are ugly stains. If bar keepers friend does not clean it up. Try a PPF polish. When preparing my M3 for sale with a clear PPF wrap over black paint which became dull after 6 years. A polish from Chemical Guys brought back the high gloss shine and removed all the stains.
Good Luck.
Noticing that I am developing stains on my color change ppf from TSportline. Cybertruck is parked outside but near trees so if it rains and a leaf falls on it I’m getting these stains which appear to be coming from oak trees nearby. Shouldn’t color change ppf be more resilient to this? It’s...
I've seen vinyl shops use compressed air to 'bubble' up the old wrap - which makes peeling it off much easier and less hassle.
Just stick a rubber nozzle air hose from a compressor under a peeled flap of the old vinyl.
It's 3m 2080. Six months all black, six months with the woody. Time to change it up and go red!
Wood is over the black, so I'm not worried about that part. Has anyone out there peeled a 3m wrap?
First post. Just picked up my CT about 4 weeks ago and had it wrapped last week. Went with McLaren orange PPF and a custom vinyl overlay and ceramic coat along with ceramic tint on front windows. Found some flaws they need to fix already but happy overall.
Your truck looks great. I get it. I do a lot of highway driving. I ultimately went to PPF because it more resistant to stone chips.
I could wrap 3 times in vinyl for what I paid for PPF
Absolutely not. Expensive, and then I'd be worrying about the wrap getting damaged in the bush, parking lots, etc. If it was destined to be a pavement princess, I might have considered coloured PPF (survives door dings better than vinyl) but mine leaves the pavement regularly.
I might, however...
Love the wrap! top notch and the color is very elegant. may we inquire cost? materials and labor?
can you print designs on PPF? or is it only on vinyl?
Can a custom design like the below be done in PPF? and if yes, what would be the cost?
if not PPF, can one do the custom design below in...
You keep convincing yourself of that. I will enjoy my painted truck and whatever happens to it down the road happens, but I am not going to fork over thousands on a roll of vinyl that I will again eventually have to fork over thousands more on another roll of vinyl. Good for you.
As I said, that’s true ONLY with crap vinyl. Use a proper PPF and it lasts essentially forever. And $5k every five years isn’t much compared to a $15k paint job - But I have 15-year old PPF that is as good as new. I would NEVER again own a painted car without clear PPF protection anyway, so...
"My PPF wrap cost $5k, is a beautiful metallic deep red that looks like paint. In five years if I don’t like it, I can change to something else. "
You're making part of my point. You'll have to fork out another 5K or even more now because of inflation in 5 more years. How many times are you...
The thing about paint vs vinyl vs PPF vs raw stainless is basic utility and expected use. Starting in 2005 we began putting Dupont XPel clear PPF on the front sections of every new vehicle we purchased and it has been great. Paint is soft and accumulates chips. Self-healing clear PPF is a...
Mine is warranted for ten years and zero issues with a mechanical brush car wash. I have a monthly deal, wash it twice per weeks at the local Autobelle. Looks just like paint.
Why not just photoshop them out then... They are using pictures YOU sent them to evaluate for any 'damage' so if you just photoshop out what you are NOT giving them, it may change the offer...
I still wonder why though? Just for free SC?? Doesn't really seem worth it... I mean we charge up at...
