...with custom wiring harnesses of dubious quality, not true digital rearview mirrors. There's some advantage to having a dedicated rearviewcamera, since I can see my bed, have a higher vantage point that isn't subject to as much glare and there's less chance that both cameras are obscured...
Are you still with the S92? I have one in an unopened box and am trying to decide whether to install it after an aborted first try with that model last March was DOA - this is a new replacement they sent after multiple WhatsApp interactions, so I assume it has the newest updates…
I have to disagree. The wide angle view that is presented on the screen does not give a rearward view that is anything like what you see in an actual rearview mirror. And that view disappears anytime you are using a turn signal. I realize that the standard cameras on all of the aftermarket...
Here was my solution, but I'm working a better solution, still planning things out, was planning on using an iPad mini as the mirror, but I've found 4k ultra wide displays that might work. I'll make a post once I figure it all out.
For me personally its a night and day difference and the one accessory id buy again in a heart beat. I had a lot of trouble adjusting to the screen rearview and like OP any time it rained or got dirty it was useless. The rearcamera mounted on the roof solved all of those problems for me. Its a...
Wolfbox's video rearview mirror is an option that some owners have installed -- here's a few

Thanks Jeff, but I haven’t had the same experience here in the PnW between the rain constantly blocking the view of the camera, and then drying and making it dirty and needing constant cleaning, and the somewhat pixelated picture I’ve found a better solution. I’m glad you’re happy with your...
I am sorry, I just don’t get it. The rearviewcameraview on factory display seems to be good enough, in fact I turn off the rearcameraview 99% of the time. If I do look to rear while driving I use side mirrors. cant justify $500 for add-on cameras.
Never had a problem with the onboard camera in rain or at night. I understand kind of unnerving not to have that typical rearview mirror up there to look at

Why do you need a video rearview mirror? The screen has a very nice rearviewcamera that shows everything behind you perfectly. Had my truck since early Foundation release. I removed the wimpy little rearview mirror the first day snd never missed it for a second,
In my experience installing...
I owned a VERY early VIN Model S (under 4,000) that was built in December of 2012, took delivery on January 17th, 2013. I had every early adopter issue, known, and then some. I understand how you feel.
I lost count of my service center visits, but it was north of 50, from every door handle...
1.Rearcamera sprayer .
Wet road driving doesn't take long before rearview mirror is completely blocked . Renders FSD completely and dangerous to drive without rearview sight . Especially since there is no actual functional rearview mirror .
2. Front headlight washers .

Adding a camera is simple. Integrating the video into FSD is another matter.
Even the current cameras, with known positions and capabilities, must calibrate for some number of miles.
Seems like in this world of super technology it should be easy to install a rearviewcamera to replace the tailgate camera when towing. Wireless to the rear of the trailer being towed should be easy also if the tailgate is down for longer loads. I will be hauling a 24" HDPE culvert in a few...
Wireless would have a lag and could be dangerous. But yes a real screen mirror would be nice. It’s also interesting that you can’t plug in trailer cameras into the hitch, they are pretty much standard on most expensive trucks now.
rearview mirror retrofitted into a legit viewscreen that takes a feed from a wireless repositionable camera. leave the tailgate fsd camera in place as is.
