Hey CT family! Recently moved to UT for school. I didn't use my mirrors in CA, but they're pretty strict about it in UT. Anyway, mirror got broken, looking for a replacement that isn't crazy expensive and ideally direct from a human. Not a fan of ebay, etc.
If anyone has a spare, or doesn't...
I just run standard 18" off-road wheels with a +18 offset on 35x12.5. Cheap, highly available everywhere (America's tire), and reliable. I got these tires for around $230 each, and I don't remember the wheel cost. I'm to rough on my tires to want to spend more than that lol
35k miles on these...
This is a bumper replacement. Be careful, not all front bumpers will allow you to calibrate cameras. The bumper cam isn't used for fsd, but correct placement is required for calibration. Just verify before buying, hopefully this one won't have that issue!
I do, but it wasn't all that interesting to see. The majority of the damage was in the black region of the glass. I could only see it in each corner from inside.
Faulty glass. It's pretty obvious if it ever happens to you. The glass will break in normally impossible ways. In my case, the interior layer broke in perfect circles without ever reaching an edge. No external damage, etc.
Similar experience. Windshield had no issues but in my case I was driving (slowly then pulled over), and no tonneau damage. You must have had a worse storm. If asked before seeing this I would say it was 3" hail, but now I'm not so sure since I didn't see get any damage.
Sorry about the m3!!
I had a warranty replaced windshield at around 35k miles and that fixed this issue for me 😂
But yes, I know what you mean. Someone who knows more than me said it was a tough film created by plastic curing after the factory. Idk how to confirm that, but my second windshield had no issues
I have sort of accomplished this using a headless bt transceiver. I get some of the benefits you've mentioned like reduced volume during calls and such. But I do have to change channel or frequency using the optional wireless ht. I hide the whole unit under the seat which is really nice.
Mine...
That's the CT tax lol
But seriously, you can do a lot of great upgrades without paying too much as long as it isn't 100% CT specific (like that lower console! Also waiting on that to get under $200!)
No, not really. HUGE offsets will, but not because of the offset directly, but because it won't be covered by the wheel shroud as much and therefore will increase drag. Poking an inch out isn't significant enough to measure.
Tire material, pattern, etc is going to drown out offset differences...
I'm using gripmax xts https://www.gripmax.com/html/products/light-truck/11.html
I don't have the time or interest to keep up with "cool kid" tire trends ? I just do what empirically works well and doesn't break the bank.
I tried lug centric first on these wheels and it work so well I...
Range drop from what? The spare tire on the top hits the range a bit but I only put it up there when I'm going slow and off-road anyway.
The 18" wheels don't affect the range. The tires aren't mudders so they didn't change anything either.
Just get some 18" then, you don't need fancy ones advertised as "CT wheels."
Here are mine, and no, they don't rub with 35x12.5s:
