Apologies for the long delay in posts.
I found my trailer light issues!
1 - cheap led side markers
2 - leds require resistance e-trailer sells a 7 pin adapter!
I replaced a 4 side markers after months of chasing possible bad wires, I did find 2 the mfg gouged and taped. Then looking at the...
it was so simple, amazed I missed it when splicing in the ground wire to frame.
it was the reverse light wire. My Scamp doesn’t have reverse lights. The wire terminated just inside the wall, went nowhere with no complete circuit.
I purchased a small led light, wired it in and TADA!!!!
I did...
It’s also the last thing for me to replace in my electrical system. Upgraded batteries, charge controller, solar, lamps to led, etc. All have been maintained well over the years and the camper doesn’t sit long. Definitely could just be an age related item I have yet to replace.
I did test truck...
Right?! Trailer works just fine on my Toyota FJ. Of course it isn't smart enough to find an issue.
My last thought is to replace my 7 pin on the trailer side, it is 21 years old and never failed before.
Giving up and scheduling a service call. After putting the 12v - to the frame, all lights and brakes work, trailer light turns red once put into drive. it is blue when in reverse.
I'll give them both the truck and the trailer to play with.
signed frustrated...
Yes, absolutely. I ran with the Fj without trailer brakes for a while, can get spooky. Trailer dry weight is 2,000# I might get to 2500# if I have to fill the 12 gallon fresh water.
it does and the lights do the dance as they are supposed to. I just get the red camper of death when I put the CT in Drive. Which means something has a wiring issue. i believe I found the culprit in being in my right trailer brake wiring. time will tell.
I believe I found the Problem! Right side Electric brake doesn't engage in an independent test (No Vehicle). The left side I can hear engage and disengage when 12volts are put to it the right side is silent. So now I know where to start tracing my problem from.
the FJ isn't smart enough to...
Yes, I do have electric breaks. They do function. At least with the FJ they did, I haven't adjusted the breaks on the Cyber truck, as it pulled and slowed just fine with regen...More to ponder.
I'm thinking I'm just going to bite the bullet and have trailer light pro take a look. i have no...
Well...I put the white neutral to the frame and no change. I have noticed that I get the Cybertruck Blue trailer Icon if I put the truck in reverse. In drive it is red.
Beginning to wonder if a couple wires are swapped at the pin connector on truck.
Yes the Scamp is what they call a through...
Did some paint sanding...Trying to work my full time job so I may not of done well enough. Currently no change. Wondering if the ground is loose on truck end, will climb under and investigate when I can.
Thanks for the help
Thanks Woodrick,
Trailer is a 2003 Scamp and the negative 12 volt wire doesn't get grounded to the frame on this trailer, which I believe is the problem with the pairing the Cybertruck and probably any newer truck. Tail lights converted to LED earlier this and still work fine on my Toyota FJ...
Thanks for the reply Mongo,
Truck does go into trailer mode blue, while in park. Put CT in drive trailer mode goes into red.
this is a 7 pin system. Trailer converted to LED lights.
I have read in some trailer forums that this in becoming common as older trailers like mine are a through wire...
Ok need a trailer light guru if we have one. I have towed my 2003 Scamp since 2003 and have had zero issues with Three different trucks. With the cybertruck not so good. If headlights are on, my trailer marker lights turn off and I have no break lights. If I turn off head lights, turn and break...
