No one is questioning if it makes financial sense - selling fewer products at higher prices... duh. The issue is that they are not actually honoring people's place in the line. Imagine waiting in line for an iphone , or a pair of sneakers and when you got to front, you're told "pay 25% more...

You may be right ... there just doesn't seem to be any proof of an actual limit to the number they will make. The fact that over 200 have been confirmed on this site alone, worries me it's way more than 1000 though.
