    ANC … not noticing

Yes ANC only works at very low volumes and it is hard to tell the difference just yet. Remember this is being rolled out slowly even after we got the software it still wasn't being turned on right away for reasons. This is the first version of the software for this in the CyberTruck. It will...

Tesla’s 4680 battery supply chain collapses

4680 Cell & Tabless Design: The goal was a larger cell (46mm x 80mm) with a tabless design for better power/range (16% range boost). Progress: These cells are being produced and integrated into vehicles, though ramping up production has been challenging. Cobalt Reduction: Moving to...

Tesla’s 4680 battery supply chain collapses

The reason 16 550 is still used in SNX is due to contracts and the number of cells they agreed to purchase sometimes it’s not about the technology. It’s about the agreements that are made at the time.

Tesla’s 4680 battery supply chain collapses

I wasn’t just looking at the roadmap I was talking to an engineer that works for Tesla on the semi. The original prototype had two stacked 100kw packs and late the shortage went to a custom 2170 pack and LR would use 4680 for additional energy density. Things can change but I don’t think the...

Tesla’s 4680 battery supply chain collapses

The answer depends on which very into the truck. The long range does use the 4680s and the short range uses LFP. Key Battery Details: Capacity: Long-Range: ~850 kWh (using 4680 cells). Short-Range: ~500 kWh (using LFP cells). Cell Technology: Primarily uses next-gen 4680 battery cells...

Tesla’s 4680 battery supply chain collapses

if only Fred and some other reporters could learn to Google. Tesla is building a massive cathode plant next to Gigafactory Texas in Austin Austin to produce battery components, a key part of their vertical integration strategy, using lithium hydroxide from their Texas refinery to make cathodes...

How likely is a solar tonneau for the CT?

Standard solar technology that would be affordable doesn’t add enough range to make the cost an additional weight worthwhile. You would need a different style of panel like they use on satellites that is very expensive to build to get a level of efficiency to make it worthwhile. Perhaps new...

Moment of silence... End of an era

Well that will never happen because ICE vehicles still get subsidies and they will not end oil and gas subsidies because it will increase costs for gas, transportation and food. Plus right wing groups like ALEC have handed legislation to states to pass to hobble EV's by putting an additional...

Moment of silence... End of an era

EV's being allowed to use the HOV lanes didn't cost tax payers money outside of the cost of issuing a sticker. It did encourage people to purchase EV's which reduces pollution. Doing away with HOV so more cars can drive in the lane doesn't reduce pollution because a lane or two isn't going to...

    Solar, Powerwall, CT, and PowerShare?

Just buy the truck get the discount and when the software update releases it will update overnight in your garage. I have Solar, Powerwalls, and the truck. I can turn on the PowerShare but it says not communicating just yet. It will come in Q3 sometime. No point in waiting for the software.

    2025.26.4 and Grok experiences?

after spending a few days with Grok in the truck I have been quite pleased. First in the truck there are some pre-processing instructions built in that you can’t see that tell it. It’s in a car to be more conversational and know that what it’s saying, can’t be read that it’s audio only. if you...

    Power share Dilemma

something they may not be aware of is it’s not supported yet. Tesla is still working on the software and his publicly stated that V2 power walls will be supported. It’s also not really the power wall. It’s the gateway. The gateway needs a way to be powered so what is shipped with the trucks that...

MyQ is terrible, does no one have the guts to tell Elon

I am still waiting for MyQ on the legacy S and X. I find homelink to be less reliable than MyQ. If I approach my home from the west Homelink never opens the door. If I approach from the east it works every time. If I back in to the garage it sometimes fails and I have to have Homekit open the...

POWERSHARE HOME BACKUP NOW WORKING WITH POWERWALL ONLY SETUP!!!

if you go into the my home and your power wall, you will see if the power Wall can talk to the vehicle yet. The newer gateways that came with a truck V3 gateways have a wired communication line that supplies low-voltage power from the truck to the power wall. Older V2 ones don’t have that...

What Did You Name / Nickname Your Cybertruck?

POWERSHARE HOME BACKUP NOW WORKING WITH POWERWALL ONLY SETUP!!!

It is still disabled for solar and power wall owners but if you have the Gateway3 with the Powerwall 3 then there is a low voltage two wire that connects to the gateway, and then the Universal connector can be connected to any part of the backup load. When the software update comes out in Q3 we...

    LTE coverage changes

All Teslas still use 4G LTE. No word when the switch to 5G will be. It will require a module swap for the upgrade when it happens. The modem in the Cybertruck is on the passenger side in the headliner next to the antenna.

    LTE coverage changes

Grok may not be right about that. I found some sources in Reddit that claimed that but it was due to someone seeing a Tesla_Mercury wifi at a Supercharging station that indicated T-Mobile. That could have been someone just naming their wifi Tesla and not actually a Tesla service. I know from...

    LTE coverage changes

The cellular antenna is embedded in the passenger side roof glass on the CT. I have seen some connectivity issues as well. I went into service mode and ran a diagnostic on the modem which made it reinitialize and that seemed to clear it up.
