    Why would it require that? The beast could just disengage the front motor and run the rear motors in opposing directions. That would be awesome.

    Did you read the recall? It is not a bad design, if was an altered process without engineering review. That is still a problem and will hopefully be addressed systemically rather than individually, but it isn't a "defective design."

    I hope the fix is simply removing the cover, cleaning the lube off and replacing the cover with a new pad.     It doesn't take very long. It's limited to 114 and you reach that before the quarter mile mark. I haven't time it but probably around 10 seconds.
