Absolute beginner - Moab off-road with family

Moab is generally less crowded in March, but you should see plenty of people on those trails. You won’t get stranded, and there should be experienced folks to lend a hand. It will just be a royal pain if you get a flat. Call some tire shops in Moab and check to see how difficult it would be to...

Absolute beginner - Moab off-road with family

Having punctured two of the stock Pirellis (including a bad one on a simple dirt road in Moab PITA). I would be concerned they are not durable enough for that plan. I run KO3s now. Personally, I would upgrade the tires and/or take a spare. As always, have plugs and patches with accompanying...

Coil Springs ride quality vs. Air Suspension - no compromise at all (says Cybertruck lead engineer)

For what it is worth, the Cybertruck doesn’t have shocks. It has struts. The strut body on the coil model is different, but I imagine the damper is the same. The goal was cost cutting and the damper has an adjustable range. No doubt it has a different map. The kinematics of the suspension are...

What benefits do the 20" core wheels bring over the 18"

The 18” should have slightly softer ride. More sidewall is better off-road. The 20” will be sharper handling on the tarmac. Quicker tun in. Less wallow. Ride height should be the same.

    Range Extender Class Action Claim

So you think Tesla could have forced you to buy the extender if they offered it? At least they would be entitled to damages? I mean they thought you were going to buy it? They even offered you to put down a deposit because they thought you really wanted one and stuff. The argument falls apart on...

    Range Extender Class Action Claim

I went through the merits (or lack thereof) on this a long time ago. Basically, you bought a truck. Tesla delivered that truck. Meeting of the minds. Consideration. Fulfillment. Done. The deposit was a separate transaction that served to secure a place in line in the event the extender was...

[Launch] Urander 270° Awning 2nd Gen

I added this inflatable SUV tent for use with my bed mounted RTT. Works well. I got it on Temu, but it was a one off. There are plenty that are pretty close. It is easy to set up and take down and fits under the folded tent. The tonneau closes and the truck looks normal when traveling.

Future meets the past. Cybertruck tows vintage sheep camp trailer.

Will do. It lately occurred to me that very few people out there probably know that a sheep camp wagon or trailer exists. Let alone what it is. In the mountain west, they are getting to be rare, but have a rich history and tradition.

Bilstein Cybershock: suspension upgrade for your Cybertruck - still fully height adjustable

Glad to see the better pictures. I stand corrected. Looks like the Cybershock made by Bilstein and offered by Uplugged is not the same as this Cybershock unit. This one is a direct replacement, not just an add on. Wow. Look at those lovely red/rebound and blue/compression external adjustment...

Bilstein Cybershock: suspension upgrade for your Cybertruck - still fully height adjustable

I see what you are saying, but I’m not sure I agree. It’s all about shaft speed. If the factory damper is outside of its high speed mechanical limit it won’t actually get data that would change the curve. It will still move faster than the factory damper can prevent. Otherwise, the valving in...

Bilstein Cybershock: suspension upgrade for your Cybertruck - still fully height adjustable

The cybershock is already on offer to order from Unplugged. It’s a supplementary high speed damper.

I still can’t believe Tesla shipped the Cybertruck without a visible rear emergency door release

Sure mate, that’s great, but if/when someone does get hurt the liability will fall directly on the shoulders of the manufacturer and the installer of these levers. The potential harms are direct and foreseeable. Until I see a safety study based on actual testing and data (you know like the ones...

I still can’t believe Tesla shipped the Cybertruck without a visible rear emergency door release

Sure, because kids are never going to curiously pull on that handle at the wrong time. You know, the one just screaming “pull me.” What could possibly go wrong? Eliminating a very low probability risk by introducing a much higher probability risk is not exactly good risk management.

Sad about the direction Tesla is taking

They will still develop Automobiles. Just more emphasis on the Auto part. In the process, they will make further progress on the manufacturing side. Once that is handled at scale, they will presumably be nimble in creating whatever class of vehicle they want. I think the larger idea is that...

Future meets the past. Cybertruck tows vintage sheep camp trailer.

I just pulled out my family’s old sheep camp trailer from a long time in hibernation. It has been in the family since new in the forties. Spent a lot of time on the ranch in that baby. Love it. It is actually fairly solid but for the windows and door. It will be a long restoration project, but...

    Shower enclosure

The cheap shower tents work fine. Between the moisture and the wind, they get mildewed and thrashed anyway. I have a hub style one (Territory Jet Set Privacy Tent is the same idea) for more destination multi day camp that I use with a folding shower tray and teak folding shower mats. I use one...

    Cybertruck's future past 2026?

The CT is peak Elon tech dream. It isn’t central to the company, he loves it, it isn’t going anywhere. If Tesla takes a development path back to more private vehicle production (once the Robo has been built out) they may make another far more simple to produce truck.. The CT mostly needs more...

    Spacecampers Cap Deliveries???

Would you please be kind enough to give me the details on it? I live in the desert. Anything to combat dust is a godsend.

    Spacecampers Cap Deliveries???

Is that a positive pressure dust abatement fan and filter? I assume it also cycles air to keep it cool.
