I think I have that as well. Looks like a round bump, presumably there is a screw head underneath. I don't think it actually protrudes from the surface, but it looks like it does, depending on the angle.

I'm at 35.5K and just replaced my rear tires yesterday at service tech's recommendation because the remaining tread was at 3/32". I am running original all-terrains and I have not rotated.

Finally got mine done yesterday-- waited two weeks for an appointment after my driver's side rail came off. It beats the look of zip ties, but the alignment is not great. The pieces do not appear to be fully seated. The fronts sit proud. The back is higher than the roof line.

Great point. I did not think of that. The nut is gone, but it does look like thread lock was applied to the screw-- there is a bit of grey residue.
