It's my understanding that 20 amp circuit breakers actually trip at 80% of their load.

Not sure I would like the detector hanging down that low. A cop may say that it is obstructing your view out the windshield. I installed mine up by the visor. Doesn't interfere with the visor folding down, and is up higher than what the rear view mirror was.
