  1. Production Cybertruck Size Reduced By 3% With a More Level Center Line and Lower Window Sills [Update: Interior Reduced 1.5%]

OMG, I just realized you were being sarcastic. I was reading Baja 1000 thread where you said engineers should focus resources on a mass market vehicle not a niche off-roader and then the lightbulb came on. The avg height/weight of US adult male is 5’9” and 198 lbs. I've fit four adults 5'10"...
  2. Production Cybertruck Size Reduced By 3% With a More Level Center Line and Lower Window Sills [Update: Interior Reduced 1.5%]

Going with an exoskeleton versus a body-on-frame is a good example of first principles thinking. "How do we engineer a structure to handle our target payload and towing specs?" Picking a length for the truck is more of a trade-off decision. "Do we want 3.5 inches more cabin space or do we want...
  3. Production Cybertruck Size Reduced By 3% With a More Level Center Line and Lower Window Sills [Update: Interior Reduced 1.5%]

Not sure how common it is but my "20 foot" garage is actually 19 feet 4 inches (232 inches) -- the exact length of prototype. The 7 inch shorter version makes garaging an option. Maybe the unexpected level of interest from non-truck people made Tesla reconsider garages. UPDATE: Looks like that...
  4. Production Cybertruck Size Reduced By 3% With a More Level Center Line and Lower Window Sills [Update: Interior Reduced 1.5%]

The problem with this render is it takes the entire 7 inch reduction from the bed. The doors and window positions are identical. Elon already said 3.5 inch is taken from cabin and bed size will stay the same. I also don't think when Elon said window sills were lowered, he meant they would be...
  5. Side Hustles with Cybertruck?

I was thinking moving bulky items for people may pay better than ride share driver but at risk of pulling a hammy or slipping a disk. The tailgate ramp and a two wheel cart should lower injury risk compared to lifting. A winch attached to front of bed (hand or electric) and a custom dolly...
  6. Side Hustles with Cybertruck?

Thanks for feedback. It's still debatable when robotaxi will be available, but even when it is some people may not want to join robotaxi network for various reasons but will still want to offset their monthly payments. I'm getting more insight reading replies. Thanks y'all.
  7. Production Cybertruck Size Reduced By 3% With a More Level Center Line and Lower Window Sills [Update: Interior Reduced 1.5%]

Shortening by 7 inches to 225 inch length has to be last major change before production. But I can see Tesla doing a JEEP CJ-type vehicle in addition sometime after CT production starts.
  8. Nebraska

It will vary by state, but I bet most states would tax it. Ohio does. For example: https://www.salestaxhandbook.com/ohio/sales-tax-taxability/software-and-digital-products In Ohio, only custom software delivered as a download is exempt from sales tax.
  9. Production Cybertruck Size Reduced By 3% With a More Level Center Line and Lower Window Sills [Update: Interior Reduced 1.5%]

I bet it'll just be a matter of time before Tesla offers something like Chevy Avalanche --shorter bed but opens up when 2nd row folded for long bed. Handy for long items and camping -- maybe even sleeping in back during autonomous drive.
  10. Side Hustles with Cybertruck?

Any ideas/comments for side hustles with Cybertruck to earn money? Anyone already doing things like these? I came up with these so far. - Tesla Network (coming soon?) -- Driver -- Autonomous - Renting out on Turo -- https://turo.com/ - Advertising -- https://wrapify.com/ - Gig...
  11. Pre-Order test drive?

Tesla still has their 7 day / 1000 mile return policy. I think that started early with Model 3 deliveries before stores had test drives. I've heard of Tesla doing touchless test drives nowadays but I think that is mostly for S/X/3, while most Model Y buyers don't even sit in one until they get...
  12. Production Cybertruck Size Reduced By 3% With a More Level Center Line and Lower Window Sills [Update: Interior Reduced 1.5%]

I tried a shorter 208 inch (5283 mm) version by shortening bed of 3% smaller version to about 5 ft from 6.5. It's possible and not terrible but does ruin balance of design I think and would require moving peak and adjusting interior area as well. 208 inch would probably also be good length for...
  13. Production Cybertruck Size Reduced By 3% With a More Level Center Line and Lower Window Sills [Update: Interior Reduced 1.5%]

3% isn't that much. Flattening angle of center line cuts about 2 inches from tail (without shortening bed). Then take another 2 inches from nose (in front of wheel well). Then shorten rear door 2 inches and driver door 1 inch. Interior might loose a little but maybe dashboard and seats can be...
  14. Cybertruck wishlist - options or ideas you'd like to see available?

My guess is rear window will roll down. This will allow ventilation to vault. Kids and maybe some adults might be able to squeeze through opening. I'd love to see bigger pass through like Bollinger, but I think tonneau roll down area and structural design precludes this. Maybe there will be a...
  15. Cybertruck wishlist - options or ideas you'd like to see available?

Flat glass does simplify optics. I doubt it will happen though as FSD will be here or closer at least. I had expected HUD for Model 3 but for most people center display works fine. You can buy aftermarket HUD for $30 to $300. I bought a cheap one and stopped using it once novelty wore off. If...
  16. Engineering analysis of Cybertruck exoskeleton / body shell

I'd imagine they would start with clean sheet for van design. Biggest challenges, I think, would be having a side cargo door with an exoskeleton and aerodynamics for highway travel. A van for intracity use with only a back cargo door probably wouldn't be too difficult.
  17. Robotaxis - won't they be trashed?

Impounding vehicles as revenue source is already a problem in many places. Hopefully, it's fixed by then or govt. might leave commercial autonomous vehicles alone as they'd already be taxing them.
