1st Off-Road trip in my Cybertruck - Takeaways & Experience

I purchased the Carlinkit T2C carplay/android auto device for this purpose. I was not happy with the performance using my Samsung Note 9 phone. The Bluetooth communication drained the phone's battery excessively even when left on the truck's wireless charger where the phone got very hot. It...

Took my Cybertruck on Sedona's Outlaw Trail for Offroading and Camping -- Photos & Lessons Learned

Might work. What best is to seal the gap is by squeezing something (towel, foam, rubber, etc.) between the vault floor and gate as the gate is closed.

    Vault vent for sleeping

Yes, I thought that might be possible. I tried to recalibrate the tonneau with the vent panel in place using the Service menu. It throws an error.

Not able to charge CT from 120Vac generator

There's something going on with my ability to charge my Cybertruck. When we returned home from a camping trip yesterday, I attempted to charge the truck using the Level 2 240V 14-50 outlet in my garage, and just like on the return from an earlier camping trip, the truck wouldn’t charge. No...

Took my Cybertruck on Sedona's Outlaw Trail for Offroading and Camping -- Photos & Lessons Learned

The sub-vault door complicates any kind of permanent solution since whenever you want access to the sub-vault, you have to remove whatever you are blocking the gap with. My solution is to glue 1/2" backer rod to the bottom edge of a strip of wood 2" wide by 56.5" long by 1/4" thick. Whenever I...

    Vault vent for sleeping

Thanks for the bear fence idea. Any product recommendation? Sleeping in the vault works out well for us. Our sense of security is much greater than when sleeping in a tent, and there's not a wet tent to deal with in the morning. The load on CT's battery is half that of running Camp Mode in...

Took my Cybertruck on Sedona's Outlaw Trail for Offroading and Camping -- Photos & Lessons Learned

The cardboard was held down firmly. A pliable rug might work. You'd have to try it to be sure. I would say that 99.9% of the dust comes from the gate gap.

Are outlets in the bed active / live while driving?

Keep in mind that turning the outlets on/off and dimming the bed lights from the app is NOT possible without either a cellphone or wifi connection. A Bluetooth connection is not enough.

Took my Cybertruck on Sedona's Outlaw Trail for Offroading and Camping -- Photos & Lessons Learned

Update: This method of preventing dust from getting into the vault doesn't work as well as I hoped. It does prevent dust from settling on cargo, but dust still collects under the cardboard. As you can see in this photo, dust traveled far into the vault beneath the cardboard through the...

    Vault vent for sleeping

The tonneau vent worked well. The CO2 level in the vault stayed well within the healthy range (420 to 1400 ppm) with two people sleeping inside. I found that placing the vent panel between the gate and the tonneau as shown has to be done before getting into the vault to sleep. It’s very...

Not able to charge CT from 120Vac generator

I can't charge my Cybertruck from the 30A TT-30 outlet on my 120Vac generator (Westinghouse iGen4500DF). I'm able to do so on my Model Y with the same setup. I use a TT-30 to 14-50 adapter with my Tesla Mobile Charger. Everything looks good until it starts pulling amps and quickly stops...

Packing up for a 3-day off-road camping adventure

Vault Bed Heat Pump Build (Heating & Cooling) 🥵🥶

Yes, you can crawl in and out through the open gate, but closing the gate from inside requires opening the tonneau part way in order to reach back, grab the top of the gate, and pull it closed, then close the tonneau. There's still the problem of vault ventilation. Leaving the tonneau open a...

Vault Bed Heat Pump Build (Heating & Cooling) 🥵🥶

When camping, I usually set up my 10" x 10" Crown Shades canopy and park the back of the CT under it at night for protection from forecasted rain (not often needed in the desert). In the day it provides shelter from sun and rain (and wind with optional side panels). Without the canopy, you...

    Vault vent for sleeping

I use two ExPed 3" thick air mattresses that fit nicely in the vault. Headroom is not reduced much. After setting up for the night with the tonneau cover fully open, we settle into bed and close the tonneau over us. There's enough room inside to prop up a pillow and read with the bed...

Vault Bed Heat Pump Build (Heating & Cooling) 🥵🥶

I'm not sure I understand what you are suggesting. I originally wanted to pump cabin air into the vault through the rear window, but removing the rear window proved to be too challenging for me, and there's no aftermarket replacement for the rear window at present that features a sliding...

    Vault vent for sleeping

    (y) on the black paint. I'll be testing it without a fan next week while camping. Hopefully no fan is needed.
