One thing to note....
The Hummer guy was showing off crab walk and saying that the CT didn't have that feature. But with OTA the reality is that the CT doesn't have crab walk YET. It could be a future feature via OTA. Or possibly an upgrade you pay for at some point.
#1 The strike situation is not done yet. Ford just got a new plant added to the strike.
#2 Just because the exact factory is not on strike doesn't mean there are not side effects. Legacy auto is laying off people in various plants that are not part of the current strikes.
#3 With the strikes...
Hmmm.... Given that there were only 16,088 total Hummers in existence as of the end of July and GM is only planning to build a max 30k per year, it won't take long for the CT to outnumber the total Hummers. Then technically yes, the Hummer will be even more rare than the CT. In 2 years, I doubt...
Sure, but there are ways to put off the tax for as long as possible. It's just that the more layers you involve, the more management and possible avenues of risk that become involved. There are further layers of risk mitigation that can be added but this will again increase the management...
Do you actually care if the Hummer gets purchased? The (overly dramatic) big benefit to you would be the canceled CT preorder. What then happens with that $100 is really of no concern to the rest of us.
Just a side note. If the Hummer is selling so well that the dealership is needing to call...
Hmmm…. It’s probably a race to see who needs to call who first. My guess is Cory will need to call RJ before RJ needs to call Cory. Both companies have rich benefactors but Rivian is selling far more vehicles last I checked. Lucid might stay technically alive so it can create personalized...
Overall, I think RJ is correct about the need for many manufacturers. However I disagree with his comment below:
In theory, there could be a possible future of many winners balanced out among the auto makers of the world. In practice though, I only see a single company that is skilled at and...
@Love2Cyber did say they would sell their CT for a profit to pay for the replacement vehicle. Using that logic, if the reservation is early enough, the Hummer might just be an affordable replacement.
OK, after that we are just getting a bunch of prototypes that are still being worked on for release at least 2 years away. I'm done.
But new terminology they are trying to use:
PEAR - Personal Electric Automotive Revolution
FROOT - Front Boot (so a frunk?)
HOUDINI TRUNK - A trunk that opens...
So let's hear about the details of the "package".
OK so you took your fancy EV SUV and made it "cooler".
Um..... Me thinks you need an extra 3 or more feet to your suspension height and MUCH larger wheels if you think any monster truck peeps are going want to buy this thing. If they drove...
OK, sounds interesting. I also want an EV to go off-roading with so I can enjoy nature in the quiet, without polluting, etc.
Wait... So you mean to say that this isn't a new vehicle? Same old vehicle with some extra thingy-ma-jobs? So... What is this big announcement for? This is just an...
So you have more range than the Rivian R1S.... Are there any other EV SUVs out yet?
Look at those wheels. Those look like propellers. Does the Ocean float? Can it be used like a boat? Show me something cool!!
The Prez comes driving out on stage after we are told we are going to see things that are "so cool". But compared to the Elon plaid launch sequence when he drives a vehicle onto the stage, it was a pretty tame entrance. Followed by vallet jokes when handing over the keys. Very different...
To be fair... Legacy auto knew / knows a lot about 12V lead acid batteries. And to that end they even got to the point where they built the GM EV1 around a lead acid battery pack.
But yes, newer EVs use completely different chemistries. Also all new hardware and software built into the battery...
