Any other pickups considered before reserving your CT?

GM is about to put out some amazing EV trucks if their specs hold true. And there's no reason to think specs will be off from what they say judging by the Hummer EV. I'd get this any day over a CT... https://www.gmc.com/future-vehicles/sierra-ev-denali

I Cancelled my Cybertruck for the F150 Lightning

That sure was a repetitive video. Over the air updates are fine and dandy, but lack of that feature will not keep people from buying other EVs by the hundreds of thousands. Tesla will be unable to satisfy the worldwide demand for EVs on its own, no matter how big they get or how great their...

    Rivian’s Languorous Manufacturing Pace

An EV delivery van?? You mean like this one… https://www.ford.com/commercial-trucks/e-transit/2022/ I want to do a camper van conversion on one of these. ?

    Rivian’s Languorous Manufacturing Pace

The first company to mass produce anything or produce any new or revolutionary tech takes all the heat, everyone else enters the market at their own pace. Especially so if that company doesn’t attempt to control the narrative.

This is Hilarious : "Ford Keeps Laughing at Tesla..."

As production hasn’t started for either of them, we can laugh at both Tesla and Ford. Or maybe cry a little… ?

Any other pickups considered before reserving your CT?

Here is some more info about commutes. Its a bit old, and I’ve also seen that the average work commute was increasing, but I’m sure the pandemic and shift to telework has vastly decreased the miles driven. https://www.nrc.gov/docs/ML1006/ML100621425.pdf My commute is exactly 50 feet to my...

Any other pickups considered before reserving your CT?

Thanks for your opinion. Like I said most people commute about 6 miles a day. And “road trips” are the exception. Also being a plug-in, that helps keep you away from the gas station. The success of hybrids has been a large part of the bridge to full up EVs, and they have their place. For...

Any other pickups considered before reserving your CT?

I was just looking at an Audi Q5 plugin hybrid. Not a truck but a pretty darn nice SUV. Rated at 19 miles all electric, but supposedly actually has a 29 mile range. And considering that 95% of most people’s daily commutes are under 6 miles, I could conceivably operate electric most of the time...

And ironically, you are reducing your emissions in the process. Another win for the EPA! Hooray! (I am totally serious ?).

    GM Hummer EV on YouTube

New vid on YouTube from Marques Brownlee. Hummer EV, 9200 lbs. and 0 - 60 MPH in 3 sec?! ? Still obscene, but slightly less offensive for being electric. LOL! ?

I Cancelled my Cybertruck for the F150 Lightning

I have a reservation for both. As soon as I put the one in for Ford, I was bombarded by the dealership. Different emails from different people, quite a bit redundant. I thought is was very annoying. Just HMU when it's ready to buy! LOL! In the end, hopefully both trucks will be great choices.

Why Startups (and Tesla) Will Struggle with Electric Pick Ups

Ha! True. Motley Fool was decent when it started out. They always had something interesting to add, but past few years (maybe more?) their articles are fluff that try to sell you on some bs or another. I’m sort of partial to Ford, having owned a number of them, but I dont see them making...

    Cybertruck Vs. New Bronco

So why can’t you strap some extra cans of electricity to your CT? I think thats a great idea. Hopefully someone will run with that as an aftermarket option. Wont be any more hazardous than a couple of cans of gasoline. ? Or how about some nice solar panels to lay out on the ground? Or both...

    Cybertruck Vs. New Bronco

The Bronco is the perfect vehicle to get while waiting for your Cybertruck. Especially if they make a hybrid model. Im someting like 250k in line for a CT, so I dont expect to get mine for a few years. A Bronco in the garage would tide me over nicely. ?

    Hydrogen “fool sells” (Nikola Badger)

Great points @ajdelange. Thanks. Hydrogen will never be as efficient as electricity for most applications because you are adding steps in there that go from the source to moving the vehicle. And if the electrolysis process were 100% efficient then the total efficiency for hydrogen would be...

    Hydrogen “fool sells” (Nikola Badger)

There was a recent thread that mentioned the Badger truck by Nikola. It will supposedly be a hybrid of sorts, running on hydrogen fuel cells and batteries. Elon Musk thinks hydrogen is a dumb idea. From an Inverse.com article... “Elon Musk has criticizised a competitor's idea (Hyundai) to...

    Nikola Badger pickup

10 - 20 years? How much better will current EVs be by then? Also that's a lot of steps you outline for hydrogen to be a viable fuel. And hydrogen has been around for a while, yet it hasn't taken hold, probably for good reasons. Electricity for EVs is already here and growing fast. Also...

    Nikola Badger pickup

Totally agree. Hydrogen fuel for vehicles is a ridiculous concept. Storing and transporting volatile gas via an infrastructure that hasn't even been built is laughable. LOL! <-- Me laughing! :-D Electricity is everywhere and tapping into it is incredibly simple.
