  1. Rivian R2 Reveal w/ R3 and R3X Surprises! $45K, 0-60 >3 seconds, 300+ miles range, NACS port, 4695 batteries

Your guess-ti-mates seem pretty reasonable. I would assume most folks will go with the Dual motor, and it will start at about $50K. Not sure what options could do to the price, but even at $53-$54K it is a lot cheaper than an R1S.
  2. Rivian R2 Reveal w/ R3 and R3X Surprises! $45K, 0-60 >3 seconds, 300+ miles range, NACS port, 4695 batteries

Rivian announced yesterday they are not going to build a factory in Georgia. They shut down those efforts. They really didn't have the money, and still never got permits to actually build that plant. The locals were blocking the construction.
  3. Rivian R2 Reveal w/ R3 and R3X Surprises! $45K, 0-60 >3 seconds, 300+ miles range, NACS port, 4695 batteries

I wish there was a law that car companies couldn't "reveal" a new model until it was one year from mass production. This concept/prototype/2 - 3 years from now vehicle looks great. But how the heck are they going to bring the cost down that much? Spec an R1T now, and you are $80-$90...
  4. Rivian, Lightning or Cybertruck? Regular people decide.

The take away should be that the Rivian and Lightning are also both good pickup trucks. The Cybertruck has come out a couple of years later, but would it be fair to say the CT did not leapfrog the two "older" EV trucks by a wide margin? Each one has its pros and cons. Great that buyers have...
  5. Rivian owner REACTS to driving the CYBERTRUCK

Interesting. Rivian really did a nice job designing their R1T. And it came out several years before the Cybertruck. Competition is good. Maybe Tesla will learn some tips from Rivian, and implement those into the 2025 CyberTruck.
  6. Rivian R1T vs Cybertruck Specs & Pricing Compared

True, there are a number of people that have a CT reservation. But there is a whole larger universe that hasn't seen a Cybertruck spy photo or YouTube video. When they do see one, and if they are inspired to get one, they are years away from taking delivery. Elon would hope they get one...
  7. Rivian R1T vs Cybertruck Specs & Pricing Compared

I kinda of find these comparisons pointless. You can go online today and order a Rivian R1T (or a Ford Lightning) You can go online today and put your name if for a Cybertruck, and you will have to wait at least 3 years go get one. So it doesn't matter how they compare. Joe can't get a CT...
  8. Rivian CEO Doesn’t Think Cybertruck Will Lure Away R1T Customers... Agree / Disagree?

I have a November 2019 reservation for a Cybertruck. In the meantime I bought a Lightning Lariat. Which I really enjoy and grow to appreciate the longer I have it. I still plan to buy and take delivery of a Cybertruck, but I wasn't willing to keep waiting an unknown number of years for the...
  9. Rivian CEO Doesn’t Think Cybertruck Will Lure Away R1T Customers... Agree / Disagree?

If you have a Rivian reservation, you should be able to get a Rivian very quickly. The wait is pretty nominal right now. You could get one within 1-2 months. And depending on where you are on the current reservation list for a Cybertruck, you might be waiting quite awhile. It could be 2-3...
  10. Rivian CEO Doesn’t Think Cybertruck Will Lure Away R1T Customers... Agree / Disagree?

The only way Rivian "loses" sales to Tesla in 2023 and 2024 is IF: a) someone has a reservation for an R1T and an early, early reservation for a Cybertruck. and b) is willing to pass up the Rivian, which they can get right now, and wait for the Cybertruck. It is not like Joe Blow can...
  11. Does Ford Have an EV demand issue?

I bought a Lightning, while waiting for my November 2019 reservation for a CyberTruck to come thru. The Lightning is a great truck. If, and I assume it will be, the Cybertruck is better than the Lightning, the CT will be a great ownership experience. Hope it rides as quiet and smooth as...
  12. Ford’s U.S. second-quarter sales jump 9.9%, spurred by ICE truck sales. ICE still the profit center for Ford.

I hear ya. As both a Tesla owner, and a Ford Lightning owner, I encourage others to look at all EVs and consider what they like best. Tesla's sofware, and charging network, truly are superior in many ways to the "competition" but companies like Hyundai are giving it a good go at it. For...
  13. Ford’s U.S. second-quarter sales jump 9.9%, spurred by ICE truck sales. ICE still the profit center for Ford.

As a Tesla shareholder, owner and EV supporter, I believe in the EV transition. However, from 40,000 feet, as you say, the transition in the United States is going to be a slow-ish one. If NEW car sales in 2022 were 7% EVs, that means MORE than 90% of new sales were ICE vehicles. Those ICE...
  14. Ford’s U.S. second-quarter sales jump 9.9%, spurred by ICE truck sales. ICE still the profit center for Ford.

Ford’s U.S. second-quarter sales jump 9.9%, spurred by significant sales gains for its ICE F-Series trucks Sales of Ford’s F-Series trucks jumped 34% during the second quarter compared with the prior year. Ford’s overall truck sales, a key driver of the company’s profits, were up 23% in the...
  15. The Competition: 2024 Silverado EV Reviews Are In

It sounds like it will compete well with the Ford Lightning. If it truly can get 450 miles of range, that will have a lot of appeal to some buyers. Is it expensive? Yes. $77,000 for the WorK Truck model is pricey, but so is the Rivian and the Lightning and we assume the CyberTruck. There...
  16. Telo EV Pickup Truck -- a good option for Crissa

Rivian has $11 billion in cash. But yes they are burning it pretty fast. sales/deliveries in 2024 have to be a lot more or the cash crunch will be closing in
  17. Telo EV Pickup Truck -- a good option for Crissa

Scale is the biggest issue. Rivian, if they were building and selling 250,000 units per year, would have a much lower per vehicle cost. Plus, I heard "manufacturing is hard". Forgot who said that......:ROFLMAO:
  18. Telo EV Pickup Truck -- a good option for Crissa

TELO is currently targeting a price of $50K before incentives, with 10,000 contract-manufactured vehicles in 2026. Yeah, okay. Maybe they can pick up some things from auction when Lucid closes up....
  19. Transition to Clean Transport - Tesla leads while Toyota lags by nearly every measure

15 years from now if Toyota is on the scrap heap, a) obviously it will be their own fault, b) it will be an interesting Business School case study on how to take a large corporation...straight into the trees on the side of a mountain, c) open up sales opportunites for those companies...
  20. Tesla's Investor Relations responds to Toyota's 90 Hybrids Better Than BEV Plan

What you call a ruse, Toyota calls "marketing". LOL There is a pie I call "total car sales". Right now Toyota has a slice of that pie. If they chose, which apparently they have, to pooh pooh the transition to EVs, they will begin getting a smaller and smaller slice - replaced by companies...
