Finally there are now Model S plaids driving, out in the wild, with a steering yoke. it seems that people are getting used to them fairly quickly and NHTSA did not block them from release.
Also, how interchangeable are the steering wheels/yokes?
I haven’t pulled a steering wheel off a car in many years and besides the airbags, there is also the other connections to be considered for compatibility.
if they are compatible, maybe it would be fairly trivial to swap them out, so...
I was thinking of the proportional steering being speed-dependent. As stated above, if you are going at highway speed, you don’t want to suddenly make a sharp right turn. If you are making a U-turn, you are likely going 20mph or less, depending on how much space you have.
I like the idea of a...
I really like the yoke style steering wheel on the Cybertruck prototype, but I realize that it is not entirely practical for everyday driving.
I like the new Audi steering wheel, it has some style to it, but still looks practical.
I don’t know what else is out there that might be a contender...
Well, because I am driving!
Seriously, I would expect a screen in front of the passenger to be smaller and mounted above/behind the airbag like the model S screen that is in front of the driver.
If it couldn’t be done safely, I would also be against it.
maybe It pops up, mirroring the drop...
I like the look of it, but agree it is too much screen.
Being able to change color palettes, font size and have a small binnacle (like the model S) in front of the driver with user selectable information would be great.
And, as much as I love the controls at the arm rest, a touch screen there is...
Okay, so if someone made an aftermarket kit to retrofit a HUD, where would it plug in?
Do Teslas have an ODB-II port? Certainly not for emissions, but to connect to the car’s computer?
Is there a different or proprietary port Tesla uses to interface with vehicles? Or is it all wireless?
Maybe...
I did get used to the center display In my Mini Cooper, though it also had a small binnacle behind the steering wheel that helped.
I have never had a HU display, so I appreciate that it might be one of those things that, once you get, you realize isn’t as great as you hoped.
I do think of it as...
If it sees a BT game controller, does it see a BT keyboard already? Anyone try it (on an existing Tesla)?
It shouldn’t be too hard to do this. Nice idea!
I always expected my next car (or vehicle) would be electric and have a head-up display.
After watching Tesla and determining that I wanted one, I was surprised there was no HUD option. Even worse, the display is offset, forcing you to look away from the road for any information.
Now the...
