  1. ? Tesla Q4 2021 Earnings Call Audio Webcast Stream - Listen Here @ 5:30 Eastern / 2:30 Pacific

Of course Rivian was also late (and hasn't even ramped), but they communicate frequently and clearly to their preorder holders. I'm a very early CT res holder and have gotten zero updates in well over 2 years. I was also able to preorder a specific set of specs from Tesla, tied to a specific...
  2. ? Tesla Q4 2021 Earnings Call Audio Webcast Stream - Listen Here @ 5:30 Eastern / 2:30 Pacific

I don't disagree with you, but nothing required Elon to announce specs or pricing at a reveal event before Tesla had gotten sufficiently down the engineering phases to be able to communicate it with a high degree of certainty. Alternatively, he could have hedged the pricing or called it...
  3. ? Tesla Q4 2021 Earnings Call Audio Webcast Stream - Listen Here @ 5:30 Eastern / 2:30 Pacific

It's concerning because Elon said that it was pencils down on engineering CT many months ago, now he's saying design and engineering to make it affordable is the "biggest challenge". That's a HUGE 180 for the ~1M people who have preordered one based on the original specs and price.
  4. ? Tesla Q4 2021 Earnings Call Audio Webcast Stream - Listen Here @ 5:30 Eastern / 2:30 Pacific

That's correct, people. No Semi, Roadster, CT, or humanoid robot in 2022 because it would be "insane" to focus on that instead of ramping production more. So much sigh.
  5. Rumored Cybertruck Configurations - Dual, Quad, and PLAID

Agree with the comment above about trailer batteries being a bad idea, but not just for the weight penalty. Batteries are the most expensive part of an EV. It's wasteful and inefficient to put a battery pack large enough to make a difference in a trailer that sits around not doing anything most...
  6. ? Quad Motor Cybertruck and Crab Walk (Independent Front & Rear Wheel Steering) Confirmed!!

All the "CT4 must be $100k or more" talk on here seems to forget that a quad-motor EV truck has already started deliveries and starts at $69k... I agree we have no idea what the price will be and inflation will have an effect on the states prices but, (1) as a % of a $70k+ vehicle, another...
  7. Latest From Musk: Production Cybertruck almost exactly same but better. No door handles. 4 wheel steering. Self opening doors.

I'm not holding out hope for anything, just noting that "almost exactly the same" suggests no big visual changes like traditional wipers or mirrors. You could be right about the update, which is disappointing.
  8. Latest From Musk: Production Cybertruck almost exactly same but better. No door handles. 4 wheel steering. Self opening doors.

Changing topic from the handles (which will be fine...) - bigger news is what he's not saying about side mirrors and windshield wipers. Have camera side mirrors been approved for the US? Are the patented "laser wipers" real? He's pushed back the CT update so many times (Dec... Q2...) I don't...
  9. Glass Topper is a SHOW STOPPER !

On my 2018 TM3, I never notice light flickering through because of the heavy tint. But, I definitely notice it lets in more heat than a steel roof w/insulation in direct sun. Combined with the unventilated black seats, its definitely a problem in the summer when parked outside. If you don't...
  10. Ventilated seats.

My Model 3's black seats turn into lava when parked in the Colorado summer sun. And the vinyl doesn't breath at all, leading to serious "swass". It's my biggest complaint with the car. Reeeeeeeally hoping for ventilated seats in the CT.
  11. Cypertruck backs RV

I love the idea of a hard-sided pop up with similar size/shape to the tent concept. We camped in an old Model S P85 in 1F/-17C overnight a few years ago. Had the heater at 64F all night, slept super comfortably and drove home without even charging (almost 200 miles driving). The electric HVAC in...
  12. 610 miles of range for Cybertruck - is it for real?

Exactly... "Displayed range in your Tesla is adapted based on fixed EPA test data, not your personal driving patterns." To what are you referring?
  13. Who is eating crow? Final predictions.

Since predictions will almost certainly be wrong, I'll just say what I hope/dream for on my tri-motor. Some of these are motivated by my experience as a Model 3 owner for three years. -The on-again, off-again 3% size reduction so it fits in my standard garage -Electrochromatic dimming on the...
  14. 610 miles of range for Cybertruck - is it for real?

Don't think this is true for any Tesla vehicle. My Model 3's range is a direct relationship to the battery SOC. Driving fast, slow, in wind, without wind, etc has no effect on the estimated range, just on how accurate that range turns out to be.
  15. MATTEL 1:10 RC Cybertruck Coming Back + New Cyberquad on May 21!

Snagged two right at order go-live. This will be my first time seeing a 3D CT. Woohoo!
  16. Rumor: There will be no single motor Cybertruck! RWD model will be dual motor.

That was basically what MotorTrend reported at the launch for the motors. Given Tesla's tendency toward simplicity/software limiting and reducing build variation, I wouldn't be surprised if they've settled on: CT3: Plaid powertrain with double stacked battery (and maybe tuned for performance -...
  17. ? Cybertruck Spotted at Giga Texas Plant! + Interior Look with Yoke Steering Wheel and Performance Pedals!

Looks like the slot in front of the three cupholders in the back of the jumpseat could be a wireless charging pad. Also, it looks like the HVAC vent/strip is sealed off. #prototype
  18. Mustang Mach-E Real World Range (Big problem)

The Mach E's range has been quite impressive in real world tests. Despite the shorter rating, it actually outlasted a Model Y in an apples-to-apples comparison (see Alex on Auto's video). Edited to add: It does have a 25%-ish bigger battery pack than the Tesla, so it's clearly less efficient...
  19. Type of Motors

Good points for having dual induction in the rear for power and the PMSRM in front for efficiency. Hope they've managed to eek a bit more efficiency out of both motor types, regardless of arrangement.
  20. Type of Motors

For the engineering minded members out there, do we have any idea what type of motors the tri-motor powertrain is using? Elon recently said the plaid powertrain is "finished" since it is about to ship in the refreshed S/X. I think all current dual motor Teslas use one permanent magnet switched...
