I already cancelled my reservation. The gap between what I was willing to pay and what Tesla is asking was just too much to drag this any longer. Once all reservations are gone in a few years I may revisit the idea. If CT's grin factor is high enough for some of you, you should absolutely go...
Early Sucker Trap (EST) pricing makes sense. You go through folks that are willing to pay more for the same product before you get to people that only pay for what it is really worth (what majority will pay for it) to do the same basic function other alternatives do.
You can’t blame Tesla...
If the spot is one of the first ones and Tesla honors the spots regardless of location and other factors and first months is anything like Rivian’s, buyer is making a good investment. R1Ts were going $50K+ over sales price.
I would want to wait that long anyway and I am at least that far in line so it may work out for me after all.
it may take that long to get some of these batteries in there:

That is strange. I am around 700K spot and can not edit. I thought no one can until their configuration tools are ready with the actual trims. My reservation is CT2. What is your 1st and 2nd reservation?
Heavy load does not seem to have as much impact as towing unless you are going uphill. But I agree with your overall point that EVs and long distance towing can get challenging in current environment and every additional KWh counts.
Dude, you are retired and worried about picking up chicks with batteries?
What is your pickup line? “Wanna check out my pack? A ride on 4680 can get wild…’
Good for you.
It is probably because half the time, I am not even sure what I said there either.
I am not saying I will never use AC. I was just giving meaning to the range I am comfortable with (Kinda like a personalized EPA). If I was going for the worse scenario case, I would have to add towing 7000 lb...
‘I get that. What I mean is that if they came out with 400 published miles and I got 350 in summer at 70 mph with no AC, that would be good enough for me.
‘I would design half the pack to be LFP or something that is geared toward longevity and other half for performance. The first half would be removed with some mechanical system that does not require breaking your back and can be used with your solar system at home and it could be added to CT...
‘The main attraction of 500 mile is when battery has aged and 70% of capacity is left, it is still usable but by then, some of the cells may fail for other reasons and you may have to replace the whole pack anyway (because everything is glued together) so long term 500 may not be as wise of a...
If I get 130 KWh usable battery in CT on Tesla network, I will be fine regardless of how they market or label the range. I did a 170 mile trip in my Lightning last weekend and I was able to get 2.8 mi/KWh out of it. I am sure I will be able to get that out of CT at higher speeds. I think if...
I am 50.001% sure I should know the wait difference and price difference to make that call but if 350 mile was real highway miles, that could be enough for me.
I don’t see the upside of ignoring the order of reservations for Tesla (except when it comes to smaller batches of production).
I can see Tesla needing to have a more realistic idea what the demand is so they can deal with their suppliers. However as it was stated if their pricing is...
