Don't worry about it....you're never going to be able to order a foundation series from the factory since it's a limited release. Also if you haven't put down a deposit yet....you'll have plenty of time to save up your pennies before you get a delivery.
For my use case I don't think the beast is worth the $20k premium over AWD and definitely not the foundation series at $40k.
The only difference I see is that beast is only 1 second faster to 60 mph. A spec I don't care about along with 1/4 mile time because I'm in SF and not racing ppl in my...
If it takes a model y 45 seconds to get pushed out....a new complicated vehicle like the CT would probably take 2-3 minutes eventually. Again they don't expect this to be high volume like model y.
For what you get, the ideal price I think is in the 60-70k range after rebate..this vehicle will never be in the 50s for what was shown as a AWD model...IMO.
Yeah I think all the trucks that will be made this year are already spoken for and they probably reached out to all of those ppl already. From all the various videos, looks like the CT production line has prob at least 50 trucks being assembled in various stages. I bet they are more worried...
Order numbers aren't going to matter much if the pricing is 20% higher....so many ppl are gonna fall off they're prob just gonna open all the slots they have. First ones to put down deposits and simplest configuration will be be first owners. With that many reservations they won't care who's first.
I hope Elon has like 20 differently wrapped Trucks on display at the event. I'm sure the tommy gun one will be found somewhere close by. Their promotional video they will showcase will be pretty cool I would imagine.
What Tesla should do is let everyone know that the first units are quad motor specs with either 350 miles or 500. Open the configurator to everyone and see who's willing to order the quad. Keeps it simple for them and gives them an almost exact feel for demand for the quads. Then they can see...
For me a dual motor with 350 mile range and 4ws that's priced around $60-65k is still doable but prefer $65k to land with the largest pack at 450+ miles. Sub 5 second 0-60 is plenty.
I'm sure they have hundreds of applicants a week...not to hard to find ppl. But I'm sure they are pulling their best from Y line to work CT line. Those ppl were already trained once and will understand what it takes to build a vehicle from scratch, any new ppl on CT line would prob do the super...
I've definitely noticed over the past year Elon has been smarter about not releasing pricing or production estimates or deadlines. He's been very vague at every meeting. But can't wait to get final numbers.
Yes when I'm mentioning first edition for $100k....I'm talking about:
Quad motor
4 wheel steering
500 mile range
Air suspension
Power tonneau w/ solar
0 - 60 ≤ 2.5
SS body
Compared to competition that pricing looks spot on.
Elon has always said the more expensive version will be released first...and typically this is standard practice.
I don't believe Elon will care too much about negative press about an amazing product that cost more than he predicted back in 2019. He doesn't have a crystal ball and no one could...
I think he will release a $100k "First Edition" CT with all the bells and whistles. I think he can sell 5000+ of these for the first 6 months np. Get them out in the wild and ppl will see them more and hopefully have a cheaper $70-75k truck out by middle of next year that qualifies for $7500 tax...
My early projection from last year was 12k-15k for 2023 and that's if everything goes well. Generally it takes them 3 months to double weekly production. My prediction is based on their making consumer trucks starting July 1. May - June trucks are for crash/safety testing, validation.
