    Private, Removed.

When I was a kid I worked on my uncle's farm for a couple of summers. Hay wagons are 4 wheeled like this. It was somewhat of a right of passage when you were able to back up a hay wagon correctly the first time without having to pull forward to reset. My uncle could back up a string of two...

    EV-specific trailers incoming!

What are the chances of a Russian hacker getting information that was emailed, verses getting information that was faxed?

    EV-specific trailers incoming!

I was on the other end of this very problem. The phone number of our work fax machine was the same as a healthcare providers fax number except two numbers were transposed. We'd get tons of wrong faxes for healthcare including a lot of personal information.

    EV-specific trailers incoming!

Good to know they do engage the brakes. I assumed so, but didn't know it was documented. Thanks for that. An electric motor on an inverter like the ones I'm sure Tesla uses, can produce any torque at any speed within the limits of the particular motor size. Electric motors are used on...

    EV-specific trailers incoming!

With a decent inverter, motor feedback, and the motor sized for the application, you can control an electric motor at any speed. I'm not sure what you mean by "Electric motors have very little friction at low speeds." Depending on how they hold the motor depends on how much power the motor...

    EV-specific trailers incoming!

Does the car apply the friction brakes when stopped in One pedal driving mode? I just assumed they held the motors at zero speed.

    EV-specific trailers incoming!

Do Priuses (Prii?) do some degree of single pedal driving? My 2009 Ford Escape Hybrid did virtually no regenerating when your foot was off the accelerator and brake pedals. It coasted just like most other automatic transmission ICE vehicles. When you pressed on the brake pedal it would...

    EV-specific trailers incoming!

I’ve asked this question before, I assumed it was on this forum, but maybe not. The vehicle knows it’s accel/decel rate at any given time. If it detects a decel rate greater than x, it turns the brake lights on. I don’t remember who or where I heard that, but it made sense to me. I’d guess...

Case for the 800 mile Cybertruck

Not sure I’m following. It’s been a while, but motorbike has left hand clutch, right hand front brake, right foot rear brake. My mountain bike is left hand front brake, right hand rear brake. Ohhhh. Now I see…. Guessing electric motorbike is left hand rear brake, right hand front brake?

Mythbusters did it. Dimpled Ford Taurus got 29mpg. non-dimpled got 26mpg. https://www.myscorecard.com/blog/?p=1278

    Towing to charge a Tesla

Typical Surface mount PM motors will produce voltage when spun. On an industrial 3 phase inverter this can be a problem because there are diodes around the output transistors. If the PM motor is generating enough voltage it will flow back into the inverter. In the rare case where a PM motor...

What will it typically cost to recharge a dual motor at a Tesla charging station?

Crissa, thanks for taking the time to make the tables. Very helpful. I've been wondering something. I've seen many comparisons like this of gas vs. electric costs but not sure I've seen one where they've taken the taxes out of the cost of the gas. I believe most (if not all) states have a...

    Towing Camping Trailers

Like what is often used for snowmobiles? Granted the covered snowmobile trailer was more for keeping road slush off the sled but also improves aerodynamics as an extra benefit.

    Cybertruck as a tow vehicle

What would the purpose of the power trailer be? A camper? Utility trailer? Boat trailer? Or simply a trailer with a motor and batteries?
