You have pics of your dual Dometic setup?

    Opinions on best camping refrigerator?

I know several jeepers who also swear by them, but the price tags is a bit hard to swallow…

    Long trip/Overlanding/Remote use case…

I find it interesting the number of times people think that electricity is to hard to get, but all energy sources can make it, some without moving parts… But transporting petroleum, creating those filling stations , the leaks, spills, the fact that you keep having to transport the fuel to these...

    Long trip/Overlanding/Remote use case…

National Grid is not the only way to get electricity. Yes, with such a low population density, Australia would provide a huge challenge... if there was not so much solar potential. With the price of solar continuing to fall, as is battery storage, especially with the Lithium Iron Phosphate...

    Long trip/Overlanding/Remote use case…

I actually knew about this from a sci-fi novel from a decade or two ago it features in it and I had to look it up to see if it was real or just sci-fi magic... I was happy to find it was real (but maybe not as practical as other solutions). Very interesting for deserts!

    Long trip/Overlanding/Remote use case…

I am not sure what people think about how remote places are... but if their are people, 90+% of there time (or more) there is going to be electricity these days. There are very few places that you can go 250 miles and not find electricity, if you do not count the oceans, Greenland, Antartica...

Winch - What is the priority?

The problem with POE, even the new POE plus (IEEE 802.3bt) is only 99 watts max. So at 48 volts, that would be just a touch over 2amps... Which would be more than enough for normal lights and a lot of other components, but not sure for things like a winch.

Winch - What is the priority?

Looking at the 220amp draw for the 24v version of the Stallion 25k winch I posted about, I see why people would want to go 24 volt, plus a lot of people who off road run dual batteries (in Jeeps and trucks), so it would be not hard to run a 24v winch. Now, just need a way to get 24v and the amp...

Winch - What is the priority?

Talk about a pricey and capable winch Warn has made. Though I just recently read about a Sherpa (Stallion 25k), not as popular here in the US that I have seen, it does seem capable (from reading a review and spec sheet). I know people who off road regularly that swear by warn, others by...

Winch - What is the priority?

Thanks for taking the time. Still not sure I understand it at a gut level, but I understand what you said and how that would look on an oscilloscope.

Winch - What is the priority?

If you look at the wave form diagram that I linked to, you see that from the peak of one wave to the lowest point of the either other phase, the total difference is 1.5. If the peak from zero (base line) is 120 volts, then 120 * 1.5 = 180 volts. If from the base line to the peak is 240v, then...

Winch - What is the priority?

I am a motorcyclist, my last trip was about 8 states, one of which was Texas, and from leaving my garage to returning to it I put 2,696 miles on the odometer. If I had not gotten COVID between Conroe, TX and Shreveport, LA, the trip would have been over 3,000 miles. People can be stupid...

Tesla designed Hydraulic winch option on all 4 corner

I have worked on high pressure hydraulic systems and I do not want hydraulics if it can be avoided. I could see a need for disk brakes, but maybe some day someone will create electric disk brakes?

KOA Campgrounds and RV Parks to cater to Cybertrucks

It was confirmed that the Cybertruck will have 220 in the bed, but probably 30amp.

    Van Life

The vault cover retracts completely, atleast that is what I have read. It will need to do so if Tesla does do the passthru, even if it is small and not a full passthru. See this video from Cybertruck Truck Guy.

    Off-Roading History

I would pay for an app that took time lapse images (and/or video) from all cameras on the CT and combined it with position data. Think about all the things about to be recorded in the wild?! Would mean not having to mount a GoPro on your truck to capture your off-road adventure. One just has...

I believe that is where the vault cover stores, so not sure of any dead space in the Cybertruck.

    Winching...

As far as I have seen, this is not how Jeep intends for the all electric Wrangler production model to be built. This is a conversion to work as a prototype (and maybe test mule). I am sure given the history of a diesel jeep and then the all electric Jeep, I could see given that history (and...

    Winching...

I am not a fan of added complexity, but the ability to change gear ratios may prove to be a useful tool for off-roading... but I would need to be convinced. Might also let them have a slow off-road oriented gears at the low end, but allow for better efficiency the road. (I would need to be...
