No one from Tesla has implied that they use the 9000 ton gigapress for anything but the rear.

Really?, I wasn't sure. Then we are gearing for 500,000

I agree. The number would likely be a token amount in the ceremony just to kick off the start of deliveries.

For anyone who knows, is that the approach for other new models?
I read somewhere that each Tesla store will have 6 CTs on showroom floor.thay would get people in droves to see them and cause a frenzy that would result in crazy crowds plunking down deposits for their CTs.

Does the CT use the 9 ton for front and back,?

If so , 1 press would produce 80,000 , and 2 presses 160,000 Cybertrucks. Hence why Elon estimated around 120,000 units for 24. Has to allow for the installation of the second press and downtimes.

A third press would boost production capacity to 240,000

When running at full capacity it has been reported that it takes close to 4 minutes to make one cast and with 3 press's producing 165,000 + castings per year is why Elon came out with the 1/4 million CT production number.

The factory is huge inside and not even close to half has a production line set up/being set up. I've got a handful of relatives working there and they never see each other the place is so big.

Production goes as fast as it's slowest stage and with 3 fully ramped casters you're only going to get a CT off the line under every 2 minutes per.

If the CT will be in major demand from a price perspective Tesla will need to shave more time off the caster or install more.

I think all the members here should get some special recognition for being in the community before launch.

People always wants to put the cart before the horse which is why none of us are Elon. First the factory, then the press now the truck. It takes time. He didn't want to build something of this importance just to move it later. Plus the company building the press needed time to perfect the press. Now all is in place and they are just working out the kinks. We will see these things fly off the shelf once the major bugs are squashed which I'm sure they are dedicating this entire time in overdrive up until launch to perfect the issues they must fix. This press and factory is why we had the delays. Get your pocket book ready for those first 100k orders as they also need to "solidify" a lot of orders. It's a material in logistics thing. I'm actually more excited about the battery plant they're building which has the potential to bring down the cost of evs extremely.

compared to the 4 years so far, it’ll be soon!
Hard to believe it’s been 4 years since that night. I’m hoping being in Houston helps my chances but who knows 🤷 when I got my model s plaid I placed my reservation right before the price hike and took delivery of mines well before a lot of day 1 reservation holders.

Not to mention Giga Texas has lots more space to build a second factory. Shanghai wasn't truly scaled until the second factory was built.

I would be very surprised if there were any quality issues with the 10 deliveries, considering they were built by hand. All the photos of casting outside Giga Texas is all for show, has anyone noticed any turnover in that inventory!? Parts and pieces don't mean jack squat, until we see a steady flow of trucks coming out of the factory. I don't think that I am alone in taking a position of major disappointment in progress four years after reveal. Look at my post from 8/14/23 "Keeping The Dogs at Bay", don't say I didn't warn you!!!
Exactly why I waited a few days before putting in my reservation. Did not want to be the Lab Rat.
