turns off when car is off and when you put your foot on the brake turns on

Interesting thread here.
I’ve had Bel, Escort/Passport, Valentine One (x2), and two Unidens over 20+ years.
I’ve driven between Philly and NC (The Outer Banks & Charlotte) a few hundred times over 1980’s, 1990’s and early 2000’s to visit family. Here’s a few points I’d like to contribute;

  1. I believe the gentleman in San Francisco misunderstood (at least initially), that radar detectors are LEGAL in 49 States (yes, even Kalifornia). It’s only in Virginia (& DC) where I had a problem due to them being illegal there. I had to remove/reinstall the detector at the State lines every time. PITA. I did a quick check and this resonates for those interested.
  2. I lived in Kalifornia for 13 years, in the Sacramento/Bay Area area. The cops do run radar against citizens, mostly Ka Band, but a few local PD municipalities still run K band radar also.
  3. The amount of knowledge, time and effort put into the electronic voltage, fuse discussion is impressive. It’s way over my head, but I look forward to the final outcome.
  4. Question: since the CT has a limited rear view, and even more so with the tonneau cover closed, would that impact any detector that had radar horns pointed to the rear and remove or weaken the functionality of rear arrows? I ask because I am consdiering just using my Uniden R3 (has rear horn but no arrows) in the CT versus my R8 (has arrows).

Yep… it’s line of sight. The higher the frequency, the more direct view it needs. High gigahertz can penetrate glass but that tonneau cover will likely block it. Some radar detectors have remote sensors you can plug in. If you look at Uniden R7/8/9 they have long range capabilities and you might be able to pick up bounced radar from behind…

OK. Let's start with there has to be 12v at the trailer lights connector or we can't tow anything.
There is a 48v connector under front bucket. Buy a golf cart 48v to 12v converter, $20 on ebay. Run ur wires anywhere u want.
