Recently, my CT was not feeling smooth at higher speeds. It wasn’t bad, but coming from a Porsche Taycan, it just didn’t seem as smooth. There was a slight vibration (but doesn’t come through the steering wheel since it is steer by wire - interesting). I could still tell it just wasn’t right. Went to Tesla service and they checked the balance of everything and said they really couldn’t do anything else. Not being content with that, I took the CT to a high end garage that has a “road force” balancer (which Audi and Porsche require by the way). Road force balancing goes beyond static balancing but also how the tire and wheel interacts with the road surface under load. Three of the tires were in spec but one was way out of spec by about 13.0 ounces (see picture) which would require a ridiculous amount of weights to balance it out. But what it actually pointed to was a tire that needs to be replaced. I luckily had a full size spare that I already bought. We checked that wheel and tire and it was in spec for road force. We put that on the truck and guess what? It now drives perfectly (as good and smooth as my Taycan)! Now, I need to convince Tesla to replace my out of spec tire. Anyone else have this issue?
