What is done when it is "rust proofed"?My 2009 silverado is 14 years old and I live in Canada and we get lots of snow in the winter and they use lots of salt on the roads. Even though I have a garage, for the last 4-5 years it has been outside year round. For the last 14 years, I get it rust proofed once per year and I wash and paste wax it every spring and fall. The finish looks almost new.
Just be careful with the exploding fuel tank.Help, my Pinto needs a 3M wrap. If I get it wrapped I'm sure I won't have to worry about nics, scratches, bullets or dingilings ever again!!
They spray an undercoat (called "crown" undercoating), under the vehicle and in the body panels that puts a thick coat and prevents rust. Over the years I have used several undercoating companies and this one seems to work the best. VW will void your vehicle rust warranty if you use a undercoating. I had a 2010 diesel golf wagon (they bought it back from me because of dieselgate in 2017), which had a life time rust warranty (except for surface rust). Before they bought it back, they replaced the rear hatch twice and did extensive body work on the car. I belive they only have a nine year rust warranty now.
