From Tesla:

How Four-Wheel Steering impacts turning radius This standard feature gives Cybertruck the maneuverability of a sports car.

Note: 4WS four wheel steering can be disabled / turned off in Off Road Mode.

I didn’t know it was an option I could turn off. Not sure why I ever would want to. But I might try It once just to better understand how much value 4 wheel steering is adding.

I have not seen where you can turn off 4WS ...
this may have just been done thru engineering temporarily?

I wonder how this compares to 4WS on the
  • GMC Sierra EV Denali
  • Chevrolet Silverado EV
CTs was 3 degree, then 7 but supposed to be 10?
I don't think I've read what the Sierra EV or Silverado EV are at.

You can turn off 4WS in off road mode…. I did that on day one of owership…
and then never went back
Thanks for that reminder. I remember that now.
Re: never went back
So you have to turn 'Rear Steer' Off everytime you get in?

No. Never went back to RWS off.

I can't think of an instance of wanting it off.

Maybe towing based on the gentlemen in Colorado with a YouTube channel.

The Ipad app is awful for responding but it does give me notifications of new threads that might be interesting. This one was way better than all the "look at this wrap"...

I am just here for HaulingAss offroad updates...

I'm sorry. I completely misread your comment. 4WS seems like just an advantage for longer vehicles like trucks.

I think there are off-road (some minor rock crawling and rough trails) where people want to know the tire 'lines' their vehicles are taking over tight obstacles.

No worries! I looked at what I wrote and it wasn't clear. I am half a coffee in and not working today so that is my excuse.

Yeah. I am glad you can turn it off as an option.

There are so many options in Baja and Overland mode that I still need to play with!

It is so fun off road!!! I should go today... durn holidays!!!!

I had a Model S Plaid loaner last week. It was quick and nimble but give me the Beast every time!!!

With towing you want AWS on! It makes life soo much easier when backing up!

I thought so as well, it seems counter intuitive but its true.

Fair. Not sure what TFL did. I thought they mumbled that 4WS was the reason for a towing incident.

Turning rear steering off can be useful in the slippery cross-slope conditions when the front and rear of the truck are trying to slide downhill as you counter-steer to maintain your course. In this situation the rear wheels would be steered downslope, which is exactly what you don't want.

In most tricky situations I find the rear steering to be a real benefit and don't want to turn it off unless I have to.

Towing on the highway is better with rear steering enabled, providing more control during lane changes (and I don't think you could disable it without going into off-road mode anyway).

I didn't know you could turn it off. Wish I knew that two days ago when I was backing a trailer into a friends garage with very little maneuvering room. In theory I would think RWS would help - if you know how to use it - but I kept getting in a jam where it was moving the back end when I didn't want it to.
