When I first saw the new steering wheel my first thought was "oh no, no steer by wire" because, after all, with steer by wire one would never need a full wheel (regardless of shape). Then, during the Investor Day presentstion someone spoke directly about steer by wire and brake by wire and, even though the context was different, it was still a direct reference, and I started to breath again. So what is my point? I think that, at least as far as I am concerned, I will try to keep an open mind about the prototype we see in these images and videos, take it as great progress, and trust that Tesla wants to produce an awesome truck for us.

'red block' behind steering wheel location?

48v low voltage 2023 Investor Day - YouTube.jpg
If this is an accurate wiring diagram then we should be able to figure out lots of things, like where outlets will be, whether there will be power for winches or snowplows, whether there will be side view monitors, etc., but I cannot se them. Can others?

They better be designing a 48v winch then.
Yeeeeeesssss! I am hoping that front bumper panel shown on the bed at the event is for exactly that.
Also hoping that, based on where all the red stuff is in that picture, there’s steer and brake by wire.

There isn't one in the Beta prototype though?
But there was in another prototype. That is the whole thing. We cannot get hung up on the missing things right now. What they told us we can bank on;48v architecture, simplified wiring and ethernet, improved efficiency in the drivetrain, dry electrode cathode, reiterating that the exoskeleton is a folded structure. All the details we see in the protype they showed show us a few things; fit and finish are dramatically improved, and they are letting at least see inside the vehicle again. Everything else is still too fluid 6 months out.

It is suggestive of sbw and bbw.
