This Saturday my family and I begin an epic journey. A 7796 mile(there and back) cross country road trip.
Nashville -> Grand Canyon -> Yellowstone -> Portland -> Garibaldi(Oregon coast) -> and back.

I'm beyond excited and a little nervous. Haven't driven this long a distance in a very very long time. We're camping the entire trip. Just hope the nights arent TOO hot.

Wow! God luck! Let us know how the cybertent works. How many are in your family? I didn’t order the tent because I have 5 and it doesn’t look like it would even fit 3 comfortable.

Update me later on what you wish you had camping with the truck. I plan to do some shorter trips with my kids and I am trying to imagine all I might want. Starting with a new electric griddle for breakfast!

We did a test run at a campsite nearby-ish. I can get the tent up and down in about 5 min. It's super simple once you know how to do it. Highly recommend setting the Cybertent up and down several times at home before you go on any trip.

Family of 4, so it's gonna be pretty packed. Everything fits in the back, except for our cloths lol.. so my solution was to buy these, https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D317QLX1?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details, and we're using that as our clothing duffle bags. Not what they were designed for, but they fit in the Frunk perfectly.

We have some electric hot plates for cooking, the Anker cooler(no ice!), coffee maker, and a nice big fan to help keep us cool. Not quite primitive camping, not quite "glamping", or maybe it is glamping.. idk. I'm calling it Modern roughing it.

The Cybertent is just for my wife and myself. My kids have a Coleman tent they'll be using. Our test run camping last weekend was great, expect for the nights. It was so GD hot. about 80 degrees until midnight. My wife was miserable sleeping, so I bought this, https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CJC1HBM9?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details. I hope it helps her. A bit spendy and the reviews are all over the place, took the risk.. we'll see how it goes.

I WISH this was available already, or i woulda just bought it.

Ill be for sure backing this Kickstarter. We loved everything about camping with the Cybertruck, except for the heat at night.

I think you should upload daily pics of your trip with some commentary. Not just about the truck, but the full 3D experience. We will live vicariously through you đź«

Hit up yachats on the oregon coast if you can. It's a magical little seaside town
Sure, why not. I'll do my best to update as often as I can.
That looks a little out of our way, probably wont be going that far south. Looks cool tho, and near Thor's Well!

Thank you for all the details, Thor. Because of your post I just purchased the two frunk bags because that is an awesome solution to pack clothes in plus any hygiene supplies. I also am going to back the kickstarter you suggested. Pumping cool or warm air from the cabin to the Cybertent is an optimum setup to stay comfortable.

Please let us know how that portable A/C unit works for you and your wife. Definitely some mixed reviews online, but if it actually works than it might be worth the money. I noticed that you can purchase a battery for it. Wonder how long that will last?

Enjoy the roadtrip!

The extra battery looked pretty spendy, figured it wasn't worth it since we can plug into the truck. I'll be sure to update on the AC unit. I'll probably do a test run Friday night in the driveway.

Looks like a unbelievable family trip. Excited for you. I wish you had AutoPilot to make it easier on you guys. I really hope the A/C works. We've family camped in warm and it is not a great for a good nights sleep. Bring an extension cord for the fan in the boys tent!

We stayed several days near Yachats a couple years ago at a family gathering. Great time there. Aside below if anyone is more curious.

Thor's Well was a cool spot ... pict etc G-search: https://www.google.com/search?q=thors+well

[Aside: our 6700+ mile road trip where we traveled through 13 states and 4 provinces (25 days: July 17 - Aug 10). We sure saw a lot of types of scenery (mountains, ocean, 'deserts'). Everything went very well with a few minor hiccups and nothing to disrupt our travel. We realized that a key point was to have some multi-day stays in a few locations (Yachats OR [7], Moab UT [2], Grand Junction CO [3]) -- especially important in the 2nd half of the trip. It made it feel like it was not just constant travel / unload / loading. Nightly stays: 5-Hotel, 15-AirBnb, 4-Friend, 1-Relatives house (7 days were with family at a rented house on the Oregon coast).]

I’ll be following along too! I just got my tent installed today. Those bags for the frunk are brilliant. We’ve done truck bed camping so far on road trips but we’re excited for the actual tent this go around. Good luck and we all can’t wait to hear about it!
