I just got a Cybertent yesterday and would like to purchase portable hvac for it. Have been looking at the Ecoflow Wave 3 and also the Delta 3 Max power station. Any thoughts, experience, etc on what to buy?

I may be camping in locations where I will not have access to shore power and may want to conserve my CT battery, so independent power for the hvac would be helpful.

Tks

Wave 3 is a great choice. Don’t know about the delta 3 max but the delta 2 max
Is a great choice as battery for the wave ac. There are two of those dc ports on the side. I realize the battery they sell is 1kwh but 2kwh or more is almost necessary if you run the thing over night. You can of course wake up and run the vault outlets for a short while to recharge but the less frequently you have to do that the better.
Of course, if you buy the 1kwh battery they sell, you can try run the frunk or roof feeds directly to that xt60 input. I haven’t tried it but it’s limited to 400w like our feeds so theoretically should work perfectly as long as it’s the only thing on that feed.

I had one of these portable AC units in a camper van (battery optional).

Don’t think I’ve talked to anyone who used one of those. Only heard from YouTubers. Any insights? Pros/cons as compared to the other options?

That's the only one I've used, so I can't give a comparison. I used it in a van in 100-110 degree weather close to the Mojave Desert, and it won't cool the ambient temperature much in a van in those conditions. But it was a lot more pleasant having it than not. I pointed it at my body to keep myself cool and it worked. It has a nice low power mode too.

I can’t speak to the cybertake but the wave 2 and certainly the wave 3 cool a space like that down to about 70 without much difficulty.
Conditions are similar here in Arizona.
They can be hungry in those conditions (think 350-500w) but they do it.

My cybertake works perfectly connected to the Jackery Home 3000.
I believe he uses the 50amp dc output on his bluetti ac-300 dc hub. Same concept. The wave ac’s get weird with the dc inputs. Either a solar input you basically have to have the battery to use or the big thick proprietary dc cable. On the wave 2 the solar input is on the device and on the 3 it’s on the battery. Both are max 400w. Note the, ac and heater can both occasionally draw more than this which is probably why they basically require the battery.
that part could have been better executed but it’s otherwise an amazing product in my opinion.

This is really good to know: how well these work in super hot (and humid) conditions.

And, that Costco deal for the Wave 3 looks like a great deal...

I don’t know about extreme cold (does fine around 40f) but deals with heat very well.
do you mean 1299 with the baby solar panel or 1599 with the delta 3 plus?
I’d probably take the second deal unless I had a specific use case for that little solar panel.
The delta 3 plus is a KILLER station. dual input 1000w solar and a largish inverter that can run almost everything plus that all important dc port. We use one in our model x. Nice side effect of dual solar inputs in that car is that you can run both the aux 12v sockets for double charge speed so about 250w.
think about it though, with correct over paneling that thing can charge full from solar in about an hour and with that dc port you can use the alternator charger/battery tender thing to attach as huge of a battery as you want to it. Ecoflow’s best product right now in my opinion.
Only thing that could possibly make it better is two of those dc ports so you could run the alternator charger/battery AND the dc for wave 3 at the same time like the delta 2 max or delta 3 max but you can’t have everything at that price I guess.
I use a delta 2 max as the battery for my waves ( I have two wave 2’s and one wave 3). Highly recommend. 2kwh is a little bulky but realistically what you need to get through a decently warm night without headaches.
So to sum up this long winded response, the 1599 deal is excellent in my opinion. You get 1kwh from that wave battery and another from the power station plus all the ports and plugs you could possibly want inside the tent.

Thanks for the input! I'm a bit confused at this point. Which combo are you suggesting I buy for $1500 and from where?

Sorry if I caused any confusion. I’ve just been messing with these for quite sometime and accumulated a little experience. Tried all the permutations and for me at least, the wave 3 with its battery plus another 1-2kwh power station is optimal. That’s exactly what Costco is offering at a very good price in my opinion.
I’d get the Costco bundle that looks like this…

Tesla Cybertruck a/c & heat for cybertent IMG_7767

Again, expensive and not for everyone but ideal for me in the cybertent.
I’d keep the power station inside the tent to power anything else you might want in there in addition to the air conditioner.
And…if you’re in a cybertent or anything else on the roof, I’d put an xt60 connector on the roof power feed and plug that into the xt60 input on the wave 3 battery for basically infinite run time.
