Even the heavy scarlet mist of a consumed world, capable of blocking the Sun itself, could not hide The Factory, with its thousands of eyes piercing suspiciously at any who dare to approach. As you walk towards, it follows your every step, analysing, calculating, but endlessly working, never sleeping. You advance closer with a sigh. It recognises and accepts you, welcoming you into its ever-growing family, never again to leave. Two sliding doors open their massive jaws, ominously, but not to bite or swallow you, but to present to you a gift. The gift rolls silently down towards you, gently clicking ajar a door as it stops at your side. Sharp enough in its metallic gleam that it could cut, large enough that it could kill. It was beauty, it was horror. Was it the bringer of hope, or a representation of merciless oppression? Either way, you had long ago made your choice. You would be part of it forever. So you tap your OCP badge and step in, finally meeting your destiny.
This is your playlist.
I compiled this playlist over the last couple of days for all those lucky enough to soon be able to venture into the beast, but also for those who want to bask in the feeling while waiting. It's unfortunate several items were missing from Spotify (mentioned below), but I hope this helps get you into the mood of anticipation for the exciting dystopia that lies ahead. I recommend turning on the option in your Spotify for levelling the sound levels, as the tracks on the list are mastered at different levels (and you will probably still have to adjust). Remember to keep volume high.
Tracks:
1) Jean-Michel Jarre: Calypso Part 2 (Waiting for Cousteau, 1990) [Hope your Cybertruck has subwoofers to fully appreciate the lovely synthesizers that kick in at about 1min. Also note the appropriate appearance of steel drums]
2) Daft Punk: Derezzed (TRON: Legacy, 2010)
3) Kavinsky: Rampage (OutRun, 2013)
4) Chipzel: Courtesy (Super Hexagon, 2012) [Super Hexagon is btw the only game anyone should be allowed to play in a Cybertruck. Download it immediately for your phone if you don't know the game]
5) Future Sound of London: My Kingdom (Dead Cities, 1996)
6) Kavinsky: Blizzard (OutRun, 2013)
7) El-P: Delorean (Fantastic Damage, 2002)
8) Front 242: Neurobashing (Tyranny >For You<, 1991) [This one needs volume boosted]
9) Jean-Michel Jarre: Arpeggiator (The Concerts in China, 1981)
10) Jean-Michel Jarre: Revolutions (Revolutions, 1988) [The original released version would possibly be a better fit than the one on Spotify, as significant changes were made to this due to rights issues, but the original is no longer available]
11) Bomb The Bass: Megablast (Into The Dragon, 1988)
12) Brad Fiedel: Terminator (Main Title) (The Terminator Original Soundtrack, 1984)
13) Stu Phillips: Knight Rider (1982)
14) Kraftwerk: The Robots (The Man Machine, 1978) [In honour of the Machines making the Machine]
15) Front Line Assembly: Bio-Mechanic (Tactical Neural Implant, 1992) [I actually wanted the brilliant Final Impact and/or The Blade from the same record, but they are unavailable on Spotify. See below]
16) Front Line Assembly: Sex Offender (Millennium, 1994)
17) Vangelis: Blade Runner (End Titles) (Blade Runner Soundtrack, 1982)
Unavailable on Spotify but really should be on the list:
Barry De Vorzon: V (The Final Battle) (1984) [This is one of the best TV theme tunes ever, please listen! The intro clearly inspired Stranger Things. I'd be tempted to paint the 'V' sign onto a Cybertruck]
Front Line Assembly: Final Impact (Tactical Neural Implant, 1992) [My main reason for having to play music off an iPhone in a Tesla!]
Front Line Assembly: The Blade (Tactical Neural Implant, 1992) [If anyone is ever looking for deliciously dark electronic music with vocoders, go no further]
Nation 12: Speedball 2 (1990)
I look forwards to hearing what you think.
