I remember there being a thread somewhere with some forum members attempting this. Well... Someone is attempting it with a current mid-range electric vehicle! This one has been modified to get a full charge from an RV outlet in an hour or so and will have what I guess will be a hundred fifty mile range at trail speed.

Very interesting! It may be the first to make it across, although it will have a support vehicle.
