Have we heard any updates on this for the top spec and it being a reality?

GMC Dinali just announced their electric claiming 400 mile starting in 2024.

not sure if anyone has made a claim of 500 miles or close to that as Tesla has with CT.

Who needs a long range battery when a rapid charge battery is a better solution? It would be smaller and lighter.
Charging a battery is fastest when you are below 50% state of charge.

If you have a 300 mile range battery, adding 250 miles of range, a lot of range will need to be added while you are quite far down the charging curve. If you have a 500 mile battery and add 250 miles, almost all of that charging is done below 50% state of charge when you can get much faster charging speeds.

If you have a 500 mile battery, you will spend the least time at the Superchargers.

Range is king. We have treaded over this territory enough times ... fast charge times 'are' important, but as @Ogre and @TBONO mentioned, the large the range the more useful the truck will be and the better the charging rate. Just imagine pulling up to a 1MW charger and being able to charge at that rate for even 10 minutes!

I wouldn't put too much faith into announcements.

Especially from GM, unless they are announcing a car that is particularly good for roasting marshmallows.

My point about GM is not that we should count on it, but more so that even the latest announcements for a product 1+ yr away are far off of the 500 mi.

I don't think 500 miles range is necessary for your daily driver for commuting, especially if you have home charging, 300 actual miles is enough safety buffer for most daily use and occasional road trip.

500 miles for a work truck is absolutely necessary imo. Especially when you can't fit the truck in a garage.

400 miles is fine for a heavy truck that is just used for commuting.

It is still listed on the Cybertruck web page as up to 500 miles range.
I’d like to point out that on reveal day the screen said 500+ miles. Now the website says “up to 500 miles”. That subtle difference changes the meaning significantly.

Highly recommend NOT roasting marshmallows over an open Bolt fire. :)
