For the rear gate, I don't think that it "opens" just unlocks and cracks open an inch or so. The frunk will open, but if like other Tesla's, you can set the open height.
It does fully open, and it opens all the way. There are no sensors, but there should be. My kid has already opened it without asking (luckily it wasn't in the garage) and I've opened accidentally and bumped a supercharger stall with it lol. Luckily, it opens pretty slow, so it'd be hard to do any damage.

I have this same problem with my Model 3 trunk when parked in the garage. I haven't damaged it yet after 6 years of ownership. Now I'm scared again, haha. Fingers crossed ?

Does anyone know whether or not there are sensors on the tailgate or frunk to ensure they don’t accidentally open in garage. Obvious garage door is in the way of tailgate and I have overhead cabinets that I park under that the frunk would hit if opened. Thx

Sure Human sensors..
