Hi all
been lurking - finally joined as have the above question and hadnt seen similar. trying to trade in a tesla with FSD, and its cheaper to NOT transfer FSD. the app keeps forcing it, and when Tesla removes it on their end, it removes the whole car. Per their direction - going through the loan approval process with no trade to get the promotional rate, then they state we can add the trade after.....

anyone else experience anything like this?

of course trying to get this all figured out in the next few days :)

thanks!

I am in the same boat and Tesla support like usual is lacking haha. But I am hoping this means hopefully as the month ends, they give us 0% with FSD transfer.

bringing this back up since i see the 0% has been extended....

this was a major PITA, and took daily calls to Tesla. everyone tried to fix it, but it never was corrected up to the day of delivery (only a few hours before) and the manager of the delivery center had to light a fire in the right place. Then they were finally able to force NOT transferring FSD on the trade in. And as a bonus, they raised the trade value a bit.

so in the end it was worth it - hopefully others have had better luck

Are you saying Tesla is valuing trade-ins with FSD for many thousands of dollars more than the same trade-in without FSD? Can you provide the numbers? Also, is does the trade-in have hardware 3 or hardware 4?

Hi
that is correct.

The original motivation for not transferring FSD and re-buying it was it was roughly $50/mo more to transfer FSD and get 5.5% interest for 60 months vs re-buy FSD and get 0%. So roughly $3k savings over the life of the loan

Once Tesla was able to get it straight in the systems, they revalued the trade in to include FSD which increased it roughly $2k. This was for a 2022 Y with HW3

so in the end - going this route as painful as it was, it did help to offset some of the painful depreciation for the HW3 car, that we managed to buy near the absolute peak pricing
